Positive: Breakfasts and dinners were included with our room, and the food was exceptional. We particularly enjoyed the Japanese teppanyaki meal, but the French dinner also was very good. (It was fun dining in pajamas, along with all the other guests.) It's an easy (maybe 15-minute) walk from the hotel to the ropeway up Mt. Asahidake. We didn't climb all the way to the top of the mountain, but the loop trail hike was wonderful. Our room and the spa facilities also were very nice.
Negative: The only time choice for our first meal was 8 pm, much later than we would have liked. The second night the choices were 5:30 or 8. It would have been nice had the hotel allowed us to pick the meal time well enough in advice to secure a time that was better for us.
Summary: For those interested in ascending Mt. Asahidake, this is a very good choice.

Positive: The Onsen was nice, both the private and public one. Private Onsen was always available when we wanted to use it. Free use of large raincoats was a life saver for hiking the mountain in a light drizzle. Staff speaks enough English to communicate all you need to know
Negative: Apparently booking.com or the hotel decides for you which dinner option you get (despite what the description text days) if you want the Japanese dinner, make sure to let the hotel know (and that they acknowledge this) French dinner was ok, some of the courses were not great

Positive: Friendly and helpful staff, great onsen, comfy beds, lovely breakfast and restaurant French cuisine
Negative: No food available when we arrived although there are 2 restaurants. It wasn't clear that we had to book in advance. Accommodation was overpriced for what it was.

Positive: The chain of La Vista and Dormy Inn are always trusted
Negative: Surprisingly, they did not read my message on dietary requirements and claims that booking.com doesnt inform them. I called them out. Very disappointing
Summary: Just fell short this time on dietary despite messaging via Booking.com 10days in advance

Positive: Great location Lovely onsen Breakfast was great Spa was good and good value
Negative: Service was difficult especially around food - the staff were great but they had to follow bizarre policies. We requested dinner at 3pm on the day and were told they were full and there was no food. After an extended, painful negotiation, they found us some food. This policy was not communicated in advance. The next morning - there was endless lavish food laid out for breakfast so there obviously was food available. Any dietary preferences or restrictions - even simple ones like no meat (fish / veg fine) - must be communicated several days ahead. This policy was communicated however - but phrased as ‘allergies’ rather than preferences which is a confusing, unfortunate cross cultural miscommunication. Our room was dated.
