Summary: it is a fantastic hotel in a premium location. all was great. however, one thing they should massively improve is about their rigidity on certain rules like having longer room-service hours as per international standards and, the most, being much more flexible when renting water sports equipment at the boat house. this was far too much rigid till the point that there was never the right conditions to go out in the lagoon with any of their equipment. i am an expert sailor and i think they have a bit conservative policies on this subject.

Summary: The resort feels very much like it is run for the shareholders not the guests. The grounds and facilities are well maintained but if you actually want to use them, you'll likely be disappointed. Most activities required multiple days notice or just got taken off the menu with a poor excuse. We were half board and were supposed to be able to dine at the beach restaurant. We tried multiple times and later found out that they don't let many guests eat there, they hold the tables for walk ins. This is why it is mainly empty when they say that they don't have any space. Random charges were applied to our bill and they also gave it in euros with a bad rate. This was corrected but is typical of the wallet squeeze. Drinks were expensive and it felt like staff were only really interested if you were spending a lot on extras.

Summary: La Pirogue is one of the loveliest hotels in the world! A well-balanced mix of laid-back island charm, with professionalism, friendliness, fun activities and the best hotel food you will find anywhere (mix of authentic local and themed international, always something for everyone and a classy pastry section straight out of Paris!). The grounds are picturesque and immaculate, whilst the staff are amazingly friendly and attentive. Cannot recommend La Pirogue highly enough!

Summary: All of the above. Everything was perfect, the villa, the beautiful grounds of the La Pirogue, breakfast and dinner buffets. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would highly recomend!

Summary: Oasis in poor area of Mauritius. Our taxi driver warned us against going on the beach at night due to a recent horrific incident. The area looks poor, stray dogs, lots of rubbish and rubble. However la pirogue is a bubble of loveliness, landscaped gardens, direct access to glorious beach. Nightly activity programme, food was generally very good with plenty of variety. Most staff very friendly and helpful especially if leaving a tip. Pool very cold. Additional activities offered very good: walk, snorkelling, kayaking. Taxi drivers at hotel very helpful and you can just about get everywhere from the hotel although seems there’s just the one main road so traffic can be bad.

Summary: We had a great 10 day honeymoon at La Pirogue. They were very accommodating at the beginning and end of holiday giving us a spare room to shower in. The food everg day was incredible. Cocktails lovely. No extra hidden charges. We played crazy golf and used the sports facilities too. Would definitely recommend and we will be back soon!

Summary: Adjoining garden bungalows were good for us with our two teenage children. A dated resort. Convenient for beach. We spent a lot of time at Sugar Beach which is the sister hotel as they had more to offer. Drinks and food was a strange set up at Sugar Beach with certain areas for certain staff. Padel was very expensive. Spa facial was good but not a great welcome. Staff weren't overly friendly as our previous resort were.
