Summary: Really high quality living area and excellent pool which was big enough for a proper swim. Joannas, which is 300 metres below L’Orangerie, is a very pretty and very quiet village and L’Argentiere is 10 minutes drive away and charming. It was very hot when we were there which meant keeping the house shut up and fans on full blast (there is no air conditioning). The garden is not ‘pretty’ and instead has an eccentric arrangement of box hedges and no summer flowers, but it has lovely views of the hill all around. The gorges were the high spot - such fun to swim or kayak in the Ardeche and the mountain streams running into it with fantastic swimming spots in the Beame only 15 minutes away by car
