Positive: The door to the building is very shabby looking and initially raised concerns as to what might await us but we need not have been worried as the owners have obviously taken a lot of care and pride in their apartment. The fixtures and furnishings are of a high standard and the apartment is clean and tidy. (although as Brits who like their cup of tea, it would have been nice to have had a kettle ). Because the apartment is on the 2nd. floor, it offers superb views of the surrounding countryside. Communication with the owners, who are very pleasant and nice, was first rate.

Negative: The apartment building/street is at the top of a VERY steep hill ! To go back into the town centre, one needs to be either very fit to walk- or use the car. After one day of walking, we then compromised and used the car to park halfway between the apartment and town centre in a free car park. The main supermarkets are on the edge of Thiers and require the use of a car to stock up if self catering, which was not a problem for us. One of the other apartment owners has two (gorgeous looking) dogs kept in a yard but they do not bark and we were never disturbed by them
