Positive: Great looking place on a good location and nice host.

Negative: No towels included. No curtains on the windows so you wake up at first light. It's a bit noisy due to the thin walls. Biggest letdown for me personally were the really thin futon mattresses. My back hurt really bad and couldn't get back to sleep at 3.30AM.

Positive: The staff were so friendly and helpful. Amazing advice on navigating this beautiful Onsen town. The lovely woman (Im sorry to forget your name) identified locations to eat and Tattoo friendly onsens so that my friend and I can have an authentic experience. I went for a walk at 6am to find my car covered in a layer of snow. When I returned at 10, the car had been brushed clean of snow ready for our departure. This service was not requested but done on their own will. For this, we are very thankful. English was amazing and the accommodation (private futon room) was amazing. Thankyou for having us.

Negative: The washroom wasn't the best BUT in an onsen town, you are better to wash in one of the many public baths anyway. The Kotodama wash room did not detract from our experience and we were very very happy!

Positive: For a 6-bed dorm, this is a very nice hostel and a great value. The walking distance to Yubatake is only around 6 mins. There is a great kitchen to do cooking and there is a supermarket across the street.

Positive: It was my first time to stay at a mixed gender bunk bed. Had a peaceful night. The bunk bed was cozy and comfortable. The host was accommodating. Had a relaxing experience at ohtakinoyu. Thanks for your suggestion. I recommend this guesthouse.❤️
