Positive: This was a very quiet, relaxed place out on its own with just 2 rooms. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts. The house has been beautifully designed and decorated and looks out across a paddy field where we watched the locals going about their everyday lives. It was a lovely place very close to the airport for our departure flight home the next day. In spite of the proximity of the airport we were not disturbed by planes during the night.

Negative: My only comment would be that we were looking forward to a traditional Sri Lankan meal option for the last night and the meals were quite westernised which was a little disappointing. Maybe a traditional option could also be considered for guests to choose?

Positive: The location was perfect, near the airport but felt so secluded. Lovely grounds to walk around. Bedroom and bathroom were both perfect. However it was the staff who really made this special, thanks for looking after us so well. Absolutely delicious breakfast and dinner.

Positive: This beautifully appointed two bedroom guesthouse is perfect for a one night Colombo stopover. We were seamlessly picked up and returned to the airport the next morning. On arrival, we were not allowed to touch our bags and instead given a delicious lemony mocktail before being shown into our lovely, large room with large modern bathroom and a terrace overlooking the paddy fields. The house is beautiful in a very peaceful, rural location. I strongly suggest to book the evening meal which was delicious (but wine free) before an early night ready for our travels the next day. Breakfast in the communal space awaited at 7.30 as requested. We were offered cooked options but chose fresh fruit which was served with yoghurt and honey and very good Sri Lankan tea. Zero negatives from us but if you are seeking a place to begin a cultural exploration of Colombo, this is not it. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful in the middle of paddy fields but brilliantly convenient for the airport.

Positive: Considering the proximity to the airport the natural beauty and tranquility of this lovely hotel was quite a shock. We were warmly met by Gihan, the groundsman (and manager I think), shown to our superb room and then guided around the grounds. He imparted so many interesting details about the garden and the building of the hotel and it was very clear to see his enthusiasm and pride in every aspect. I had been texted before arrival with an offer of providing lunch which was exquisite in taste and presentation. Our dinner was also fantastic, cooked by the chef Nihal. We met Sanjay, a Co-owner, and learned about the architect’s (his father) admiration of Geoffrey Bawa, whose influence is present everywhere. The dogs, cattle, egrets, peacocks, ambience, views and unbelievable service make this a magical small hotel.

Negative: It’s inevitable that there’s some noise from the planes but that wouldn’t stop me returning here again and again. The pluses hugely outweigh a bit of noise.

Summary: Beautiful, friendly, tranquil boutique hotel.

Positive: This is undoubtedly one of the most exceptional places we have every stayed at (and we travel for a living!) Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and we were delighted with the superb quality of our room. Surrounded by rice paddies and birds, this little gem has its own enchanting garden where you can relax. With only two rooms in the villa, it felt like we were staying in someone's beautiful home. I am guessing that the interiors were designed by a talented architect or an experienced interior decorator. A highlight was taking a shower with a view out into the dreamy natural landscape, watching a peacock make its way from one rice field to the next. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast and had to leave all too soon. This was a one-night booking before flying out from the nearby Colombo airport but we would have loved to stay longer. Note: if you like a drink or two in the evening you should think about bringing it with you.

Negative: Cannot fault anything.

Summary: A jewel of a small villa surrounded by rice paddies.

Positive: Location - Absolutely beautiful surrounding covered with paddy fields and a small river. Plenty of areas to roam around and explore. Very relaxing and comforting. Staff - Staff was very attentive from the start and made sure to cater all the guests requirements promptly. Food - The food was exceptional for a small boutique location where they had both Western and Local cuisines.

Summary: Amazing holiday destination in between paddy fields so close to the airport.

Positive: The chef was superb!! He is friendly, attentive, and welcoming. He made the coconut rotti fresh, the Sri Lankan breakfast was super delicious.

Negative: As it’s close to the airport, the noise caused by the plane is unavoidable, it could get a bit annoying during middle of the night, difficult for light sleeper

Positive: The house and the surrounding itself is just outstanding (11/10). Beautiful garden surrounded by the rice fields. The house is very well decorated with spacious rooms and a nice shower facing rice fields but still very private. The staff is friendly and nice people.

Negative: There is a one main thing to mention no one is talking about. The house is right in the planes runway so all the planes are directly crossing you overhead at a low altitude with a huge sound (airport has flights operated also at night). So keep this in mind if you are a light sleeper this might be a big problem. Also mention the food: Sri lankan cuisine is absolutely beautiful and one of the best so if possible ask not to prepare western type food they are not used to make it so good as a local and compared to Sri lankan it is tasteless.
