Positive: The location was directly on the ocean at Anson Point. The views of the ocean from most rooms in the property were breathtaking. Sunsets were amazing. A welcome bottle of wine, beer and tonic water in the fridge and a fresh-baked loaf of coconut bread from an island recipe were very welcome. We also appreciated the ease of renting a vehicle through the property's manager. As the property is in the far northwest of the island, you really do need a vehicle to get around. An inside hint: the property owner's sister lives in the neighbouring property. They produce the most wonderful goat's cheese. The owner's parents live in the property next to hers and run an artisan pottery business with really beautiful pieces. The owner's mum scored us a helping of the goat's cheese. Sitting on the patio, watching the sun set over the ocean with a glass of wine and this delicious cheese on crackers...it just doesn't get any better!

Negative: Nothing negative about the property, but when you rent a vehicle, give some thought to a larger...perhaps a four-wheel drive...vehicle, as Anson Bay Road up the west side of the island is in serious need of repaving! There is wonderful scenery to each side, but as the driver you can't take your eyes off the road as there are serious craters all along it. A hint: if you're driving to the property from the airport, head into Burnt Pine. At the first round-about at the Ferny Lane Theatre, turn left onto Grassy Road heading north. The road turns west and becomes Mission Road at the Botanical Gardens. Mission Road ends at its intersection with Anson Bay Road. This cuts out the southern section of Anson Bay Road and both Grassy and Mission Roads are in good condition. Do drive the southern section of Anson Bay Road at least once though, to stop and have a look at St Barnabas Chapel. Very historic and very beautiful!

Positive: King Tide House is in a fantastic location with all round views of both the ocean and countryside. The beds and living areas are very comfortable. The kitchen is well set up for self catering. With decks on both sides of the house we were able to find either sun or shade all day, depending on our preference. Contact with Wayne and others at Norfolk Island Holiday Homes was quick and easy. The area is quite remote from other properties and as such is very quiet and relaxing. Some people mention noise from the Shearwaters, but we found their soft calls (they are also called Ghost Birds) to be lovely to listen to and not at all disturbing. We would stay here again.

Positive: The views were magnificent and the peace and quiet blissful! Having said that, the mutton birds were very eerie and raucous during the night! The house was well appointed with everything one needed. The manager was helpful and friendly. Only thing we missed was a friendly dog to pat!

Negative: Bed in the main bedroom wasn't very comfortable but that's a subjective observation.

Positive: The location was absolutely brilliant stunning views and very quiet, beautiful modern home with high quality appliances and a new rental car was available for an additional cost which was really helpful. There were some really great running routes and I felt safe running and walking. I would absolutely stay again if I revisited Norfolk Island and the property was available.

Negative: The internet was very poor the first few days which actually didn't bother me at all but was causing some anxiety to my facebook/email addicted husband this was sorted within 3 days and there were no further issues. (Who cares about the internet if your Garmin is working !!!!) I think it would have been helpful to have a couple of hooks for hanging bathrobes etc in the bathroom. Maybe a random telescope or binoculars would have been icing on the cake !!!
