Positive: Friendly welcome from informative host who lived next door so felt quite secure. Everything we needed was there and all very comfortable. The sea view from the barbecue room was amazing and it was a real privilege to stay in such an historic site. I visited this area 40 years ago when it was simply a stunning little fishing village and fell in love. It has changed so much but I’m so pleased the cottages are being preserved. The locals were very friendly and we enjoyed our hike out to the Arniston monument and a meal at Willeens Restaurant - great pickled fish and babotie.
Negative: The area is generally safe but there are opportunists around so the usual advice would apply as in most of South Africa… don’t leave anything in your car or take unnecessary risks.
Summary: We enjoyed our experience of an historic fisherman’s cottage overlooking the sea, it was a privilege

Positive: Amazing location and lovely to experience a bit of history. Loved the indoor braai and sitting area overlooking the sea. A very special place!
Negative: I forgot to bring coffee and there are no shops in Arniston. Even the tuck shop at the hotel had none! We managed on take away coffee from the hotel but make sure you take all provisions! Not the property fault!

Positive: This has to be one of the best locations for a holiday rental. The views and proximity to the sea and beach are excellent. We were welcomed on arrival by the owners who are hospitable and well informed of the history of the area. The cottage is quaint and has all the required amenities.
Negative: That we could not stay longer. We will be back.
