Positive: The staff was friendly. The facilities were quite new (I believe the hotel is less than 10 years old) and the food was good (but not amazing).

Negative: The hotel is split across at least two buildings and was a bit difficult to navigate as there was a lack of signage in the hallways/lobbies with directions. More concerning was that there were no clearly marked/illuminated exit signs. I suspect this is a violation of Article 26 of the Fire Service Act Enforcement Order (消防法施行令第26条) and Article 28-3 of the Fire Service Act Enforcement Rules (消防法施行規則第28条の3). Even if not, it could lead to a disaster in the event of a fire or an earthquake. I encourage the hotel to address this issue.

Positive: Very comfy and elegant. The public bath is amazing! Even though a few things feel a bit dated, it’s still a wonderful experience overall.

Negative: The food's refinement and quality didn't match the hotel's great environment; I strongly suggest an upgrade. We also paid for an essential oil massage, but it was very unprofessional—this was the most frustrating part of our entire trip.

Summary: Overall, the stay was very comfortable, but the massage service completely overshadowed the rest of the experience.

Positive: The room was nice. We booked one with a private onsen & that was enjoyable (but kinda super hot!) :). The provided meal plan was excellent. We had a wonderful dinner. The views overlooking the bay are lovely too. Very very close to the Beppu hells.

Negative: I may be a weakling, but the onsen was super hot! If you like super hot you'll love it! :)

Positive: Lovely location. In room onsen was so awesome to have. Views from the balcony were exceptional, mountains, the city and the sea. The food was absolutely gourmet level and was a highlight for us. The staff were warm, friendly and helpful.

Negative: Some areas seem underused and a bit dated. Bars and lounges could be updated and should capitalize on the amazing views the property has. They should serve local drinks and feature local treats and snacks. There are a lot of outdoor areas that are currently parking lots that could be converted to walking paths and seating areas.

Summary: I would recommend this place because of the food and the hot springs.

Negative: I would have preferred meals in our room for the price paid. The shower location was too exposed and cold.

Positive: Top notch. Half board meals incredible. In room hot spring bath was wonderful. Excellent service

Negative: Location near hells but nothing else. Couldn’t even find a close konbini for snack run. The pillows could use a change they were so hard and uncomfortable.

Summary: Our family enjoyed the stay very much. It’s a splurge but worth it.
