Positive: We are return visitors to Sri Lanka and Kandy, and can recommend this as the best place to stay in the entire nation. Tremendously good value. Jaliya and Sharma, our hosts, are the kindest, warmest people you could hope to encounter. Nothing was ever too difficult. They assisted with arranging transport, and even facilitating and hosting our local friends for an extended day visit to their home, Sharma consistently provided the most AMAZING food, and Jaliya was always on hand to assist with laughing, philosophical, historical and cultural discussions. There home is very clean, beautiful and surrounded by verdant gardens. It is a short distance from the busy streets of Kandy, in a quiet area where you will experience the friendliness of an authentic Sri Lankan neighbourhood. Do yourself a favour and book to stay here. We had the pleasure of staying here for 9 days, but wished it was for 90 days. Thank you Jaliya and Sharma, we miss you already.

Positive: The owner, Jaliya, and his wife were sooo welcoming and the nicest people. I had most of my interactions with Mr. Jaliya, who is such a wonderful human being, always with a smile and a humble attitude. If we talk about the property, it’s the best!! Sooo spacious and sooo luxurious for the price, it’s mind-blowing!! It’s not just a guest house or a hotel stay, it’s their home, and they have built it beautifully with all their hearts. I stayed here during the last two days of my Kandy trip, and I wish I had stayed here for all the days, it was that good. We had amazing conversations about our lives, the past, and traveling, such fun conversations. Mr. Jaliya also provided the best recommendations. I had to visit a doctor, and he recommended the best one, very economical as well. I can keep going on. I’ll just say this, if you are in Kandy and this place is available, just book it. You will not regret it. Also, I almost forgot, they allowed me to check out late since I was working night shift and slept in the morning and also because they didn’t have an immediate booking. And right when I packed and was about to leave, they served me the best local meal. You can see it in the attached image.

Positive: Tens across the board! Jaliya and his family are the best. Such a beautiful home, peaceful setting, and lovely people. Outside of their outrageous kindness and hospitality, the food was really top-notch, with some of the best tea and breakfast settings I’ve ever seen. There is so much wildlife around the property, and we were connected with a wonderful driver who helped show us around Sri Lanka (Jagath) during our stay, at very reasonable prices. Without a doubt, we would come back and stay with them again. We had a wonderful time.

Positive: We went into our stay without high expectations but were more than astonished when we met Daliye and Sharma. They went out of their ways to help us with anything we needed. From amazing foods, to city tours and great company. We felt just like home and they took care of all our needs. The house was amazing. The rooms are in the upper level, which provides privacy and a great view of the green landscape. Watching the monkeys climb the trees or just relaxing on the balcony was a highlight for sure. The location being not in the center of Kandy but a bit more outside, really shouldn’t be underestimated. It gives a nice time off from the busy streets.

Positive: Beautiful place, with spacious room and nice bathroom. Shama and Jaliya are very kind and thoughtful hosts. breakfasts were very tasty, we even had the opportunity to try there typcial Sri Lankan breakfast. The host drove us to the bus to Kandy afterwards.

Negative: There was a bit of dampness in the room, but it was not a big issue

Positive: We were there for a family function during the cyclone that happened in late November 2025 which affected upcountry the most. Right from the moment we arrived in Kandy, the owner Mr. Jaliya Senarathne and his wife Shyama accommodated us beyond their role as hosts. The place was beautiful, very neat and tidy and very clean. The food was beyond exceptional. There were six of us and all of us were truly pleased with the portions and the taste of food. There was a powercut due to the cyclone and floods but even in the dark, Mrs. Shyama cooked really tasty food for us. Mr. Jaliya also charged all our phones using his car battery, when we were unable to find a vehicle to return from the wedding function, he came all the way to collect us, he found us a salon to get ready for the function, his kindness was endless in that short time we spent in their beautiful home. All in all, this is the only place we'll choose if we have to go to Kandy again. Thank you for the wonderful service.
