Positive: Jakels Rest was a great location. The accommodation was clean, well decorated and an absolute pleasure to stay in. The photos just don’t do this place justice! Paul and Sandy were very welcoming and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. 😊

Positive: The property was very well presented and decorated - I don't think the photos do it justice. Lovely garden all enclosed for the dog. It was warm and cosy. Lairg has a lovely cafe/come restaurant on a Friday and Saturday evening, so most of the time we self catered. Although the kitchen is small it was manageable and we produced some good meals buying ingredients from the Spar shop in Lairg. We had a superb meal in The Pier on Friday night. From Lairg we went over to Lochinver, up to Arkle and Fionavan and finally to Tongue, so it is well positioned to explore and see all these highland areas.

Negative: We would have loved to have had a washing machine as we had lots of dirty walking clothes, there is someone that can do this in the information provided but its just not as convenient as doing it yourself.

Summary: Lovely friendly owners, spotless accommodation and a great location for exploring the highlands.

Positive: Jakels Rest was very comfortable, cosy and welcoming. We did especially enjoy the wee dram left for us by the owners Paul and Sandy who are friendly and willing to spend time if required. The enclosed garden is ideal for dog owners such as ourselves. It was perfect for our short stay but would equally have been ideal for a longer holiday. We will definitely use them again if we're traveling in the area. As this was a short stay we couldn't explore fully but did take the dogs up to Dalchork forest for a walk, hopefully in the future we can explore more. For food we had a takeaway fish supper from The Pier which was delicious and filling. Highly recommended.

Positive: Well catered for, access to the owner's garage for our bikes was a nice touch (especially considering the weather) Welcome whiskey and snacks much appreciated after a day on the road. Lovely accommodation, well equipped with all the basics you'd need for a comfortable stay.
