Positive: A lovely place to stay. Arpana is an excellent hostess and makes everyone feel really welcome. The homestay is equidistant between two marvellous beaches. The food is great, and the rooms are simple but comfortable. It is nearby to many Theyyam so a great place to stay in Kannur.

Positive: Location between Thottada and Kizhunna Beaches is great. The house is simple but neat and clean. Aparna is the most welcoming guest - she would service any request and will surely make you feel at home :) Thanks to her contacts, I was able to experience an amazing fire theyyam.

Positive: Aparna and Ivory Coaste made our trip to Kannur absolutely delightful! The location is walking distance from two beautiful beaches. We walked up to one of the beaches the first morning and were blown away by the pristine beauty- gentle waves, clean white sand, coconut trees behind us, not a sign of trash. It felt like our own private beach. Our room at Ivory Coaste was spotless clean, airy and allowed lots of natural light in. But the highlight of the place for us was the food! Simple and delicious Kerala style meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We had appams and puttu for breakfast and fish, squid curry for lunch/dinner. Aparna even accommodated our (North Indian🫣) request for chapatis for our dinner one night. Another thing that elevated our Kannur experience was our trip to see Theyyam at local temple. Since this was reason we chose to come to Kannur in the first place, Aparna connected us to Jithin, a knowledgeable Theyyam guide who not only took us to the venue, but also told us about the tradition and how we should conduct ourselves at the temple. We would highly recommend Ivory Coaste to anyone visiting Kannur. Our deepest gratitude to Aparna for making our trip memorable.

Positive: One of the best homestays we've seen on our journey through south India. It is located beautifully in the green and the beaches are just a quick walk away. Both of them are pretty big and clean and you can be sure to get a lot of privacy there, since you won't meet many other people. The homestay itself also has a little garden where you can rest and it's also possible to access the kitchen. The rooms are clean and spacious. All of the food that is served is homemade by the host, using local and seasonal ingredients. It tastes great and represents the local Malabar cuisine. On top, you will experience the hospitality of Aparna, who really likes to host people and helps wherever possible. If you like it quiet, this is a place to feel at home.

Positive: The meals were homely, sufficient and varied. Nice biryani, jack fruit curry, fish fry, thali, mangoes and rice custard desserts. What's great is the water filter system, so single use plastic bottles are not accumulated. The rooms are spacious and spartan. Towels and toiletries are provided. The AC was most welcome in April. There are lots of interesting books to read. The birdsong and birdwatching is wonderful, like seeing 2 kingfishers. The location is residential & leafy. You really do come here to relax and lean into it. Ivory Coaste gives you easy walking access to 2 beaches, but the sea is rough with strong currents (that's why you can hear the waves crashing). People swim fully covered. Some litter & debris does get washed up on the tide line. Early mornings and sunsets are beautiful on the beach at low tide. Everyone is polite. Our host organised a fixer for us to attend a Theyyam at 5am. This was an incredible otherworldly experience - lots of colour, fire and drumming. Do read up before you go. Our host also arranged an excellent tuktuk driver to take us on a sightseeing day trip to the: fort, lighthouse, folklore academy, handloom weavers, and a bit of shopping, lunch & chai stop. The host is very obliging and hospitable. She is kind, interesting and funny. It was great to spend Vishu (New Year) here, and meet her children (the exact ages of ours). Lastly, the nearby Ayurvedic massage place is recommended. We stayed and recharged for 5 days, before Bombay. Thank you Aparna!
