Positive: All the staff was very welcoming and helpful, especially several of the concierges, who gave us good advice about transportation in the city. Special mention go to Yang Li Xin and Eric. I had an issue regarding wi-fi access on my laptop, which the hotel’s IT specialist, Liu Yang, kindly fixed for me promptly. The room was very nice and clean, and the hotel offers a wide selection for breakfast. In spite of the drawbacks below, which relate to the building design rather than the management of the hotel, I still recommend staying at the Intercontinental.

Negative: (1) The room has no ventilation. Consequently it got so hot inside that we had to strip to the underwear when we got to the room (no A/C in April). (2) Without ventilation, the air in the room smelled somewhat bad. It is probably for this reason that housekeeping sprayed the room with a chemical every day, which gave my wife and me allergy symptoms, especially during the night. (3) The bathroom fixtures are so futuristic that it was difficult to figure out how they worked.
