Summary: We are already talking about going back! Peaceful, charming towns, great markets, beautiful view, fruit trees, wonderful owners. Always shop local first! But Should neighborhood store be closed Aldi is not to far.away. Great place to unwind and recharge. Cows are just down the road, they made me so happy. Car required.

Summary: We had a lovely cosy stay at Faget Abbatial, From the warm welcome to the lovely and warm heating which was needed as we arrived in late October just as a cold spell started. The house had everything that we needed to make our stay restful peaceful and comfortable. Full kitchen diner, two bedrooms and bathrooms (en suite). Lounge with large screen TV. Great WiFi. Lots of room outside and private off road car parking. The house was a great place to stay as a base to visit the many small villages and towns that are nearby and also the larger towns such as Toulouse, Lourdes, or the Pyrenees. I would recommend having a car though. I would love to stay again sometime in the future.

Summary: We enjoyed hot, sunny, cloudless days and made good use of the shady parts of the garden which affords total privacy and looks out over a reservoir. The property is fairly remote, with no shops or restaurants within easy walking distance so a car is essential. Accommodation is not as spacious as it seems on the website but it was fine for two of us and there is obviously work still going on to renovate other parts of the building. Decor is stylish and the kitchen is well-equipped.

Summary: This house is a litte treasure and a paradise for all those who want to relax and get a real break from their bustling daily lives. Moreover Philippe and his sister are good-natured and warm-hearted people and perfect hosts. When he heard that we had to rely on our radio to follow one of the German World-Cup matches he quickly extended his beinsports contract, so that we could watch it! (Well they lost, but never mind...) We long to come back to this peace of paradise!

Summary: We had a really nice time at this holiday cottage. It is well appointed, the setting is very pretty and although it is attached to another property, it has a lot of privacy with private patio, garden and covered terrace. The owner and his sister were very friendly and welcoming. The area is very quiet and rural but if you enjoy walking, cycling, visiting little villages, watching wildlife etc then you'll enjoy coming here. The property sleeps 4 and has two bathrooms but the upstairs bedroom/bathroom is accessed from a staircase in the kitchen and upstairs there is no door or landing so it is open to the downstairs. This was no issue for us but some might want more privacy. This makes it more of a one bedroom property with an overflow bed & bathroom.

Summary: We recently stayed in Abbital Faget for 2 1/2 weeks. The house is truly "ideal for recharging". While very rural, it was also very close to both small villages and larger cities. The house itself was lovely. A 200 year old farmhouse, very modern inside, very large kitchen by European standards, full sized refrigerator, large dining table seating 6 with large table outside on covered patio for al fresco dining. 2 large screen TVs with dish TV and wifi. Very comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, extremely clean house with all necessary utensils. Philippe and his sister Aline could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They gave us suggestions and advice and we visited many of the villages they told us about. Helpful to download a translation app before you go unless you speak French. We left our maps and travel books at the house. It is imperative to rent a car. The villages are closer than they appear and Auch, the largest close city is only about 20-25 minutes drive. Simorre is the closet village and we preferred the smaller bakery for bread and amazing quiche. The best pastry shop we found was about a 10-15 minute drive to Lombez. Fantastic selection of pastries, chocolates and bread. Be sure to try their amazing flat bread with both grated cheese and mounds of fresh goat cheese. Also, not to be missed is Albi, a beautiful city just past Toulouse, a little over an hour from the house. The only museum we visited was the Toulouse-Latrec Museum in Albi, which was wonderful if you are a fan of his. Philippe left a list of the local market days and it is very easy to buy fresh produce, dairy products and prepared food. The roasted chicken was delicious! We hardly ate out, the market food was superb and the house is so welcoming, it was nice to eat our meals there. Not to be missed is Euaze, a lovely city with the best local market we found. The central market in Biarritz was wonderful, had everything you could possibly want or need. In an enclosed building in the center of town. Biarritz is only a 2 hr drive. We stayed there 2 days. Well worthwhile visiting if you love fresh seafood. Abbital Faget is the perfect place to relax and explore Gascony at your own pace. We hope to return for another visit soon.

Summary: Sensitive and artistic, cool minimalist renovation of a stone and wooden beamed annexe with own patio. Located in the midst of gentle valleys and woods, with butterflies, wild flowers, small scale arable fields and families of contented doe eyed cows with their young. Meander down empty roads and return to relax under a laden cherry tree whose juice induces sleep (New Scientist report). A most relaxing and pleasant stay. And only an hour or so from Toulouse.
