Positive: One of the most comfortable and beautiful places I stayed in Taiwan. Quality of bedding rooms and everything is truly on 5 star hotel level. It’s a little out of the way but by no means too far for a walk to the city and just a few minutes by car. Truly an exceptional place!

Positive: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here…everything about it was perfect! The rooms are modern, spotlessly clean, and the beds and bedding are luxurious. Superb bathroom, a kitchen where you can cook, snacks, beverages and filtered water available. We also had a small interior courtyard with a table and chairs where we enjoyed our morning coffee. They had an elevator in this small apartment building which was unexpected. We loved the location. It is a 5 minute walk to the bus and train stations which we found very convenient. It also has super easy access to bikeways - we rented bikes from Giant (best bikes we’ve rented in Taïwan) near the station and rode along the river and coast all day on designated bike pathways without ever having to go on the roads. There are grocery stores and restaurants nearby but the place is in a quiet residential area. You do hear the occasional plane during the day (none at night) but I think that would be true anywhere in Hualien. The hosts are very attentive, offering advice and responding to any inquiries quickly. I highly recommend Hygge Kro. Definitely one of our favorite places in our 3 weeks in Taïwan.

Negative: A suggestion….It would have been nice to have a low table of some sort for luggage.
