Hygge (pronounced "hoo-gah") is a Scandinavian word that has no direct translation because it's more than a word. It's a concept. It's a way of life, of connecting with ourselves and others through all the things that make life good. Friendship, laughter, nature, security, coziness, food and drink are but a few ideas of how to Hygge! With 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and plenty of outdoor space, this cabin is the perfect reprieve for anyone in search of connecting, breathing some fresh air in the Black Hills. Stay on site to play in the snow or sun, skip stones, and roast marshmallows on the Rapid Creek waterfront, or hop in the car and visit the many state parks, hiking trails (within 3 miles), mountain biking trails (within 1 mile), ski slopes (within 36 miles), and museums, memorials and monuments that make South Dakota so unique!

Summary: The property is great. The view is spectacular on a moving creek. The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. I appreciate the extra pillows! We used this as our home away from home as we travelled through the Black Hills. There is also a great hike just a few miles down from this cabin. Loved the stay! Thank you!

Summary: We had a wonderful time escaping the hustle and bustle of normal life to reconnect with our family for spring break! The cabin was in a beautiful location and close enough to town to get groceries, Walgreens, restaurants etc. we went to Custer state park and also to see Mount Rushmore!! We will Be back!

Summary: Our group of four enjoyed our stay! The beds were comfortable and the view is beautiful and peaceful. We did not realize that the entrance is actually around the back of the house, but all was well once we found it. Would recommend :)

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hygge House. The fire pit by the creek was our favorite place to sit with our teenagers every night having s’mores and talking about our experiences from the daytime excursions. The house felt like a home, very warm and welcoming. The deer outside the kitchen window in the mornings was a lovely way to wake up and start the day! Thank you for your kind hospitality.

Summary: My family loved exploring the area for our spring break trip. It was unseasonably cold but we were able to see all the major sites and had a great time. The best part was having such a cozy, inviting home to return to every evening. The home offered everything we needed and the view was spectacular. We even enjoyed a winter fire beside the creek. So many wonderful memories made.
