Positive: Really liked our stay here, some may say it s dated but it was very taken care of and clean and we loved it. Great spa and pool facilities, great restaurant and staff. We really loved the room and the view. Definitely a great place.

Negative: Beyond me how can a local cider made across the street is the same huge price as an Italian wine, we went for the wine in the end.

Summary: Great stay, superb hotel.

Positive: The hotel is a bit outdated but has lots of character and is well-maintained. The rooms were a nice size, beds and bedding very comfortable, and rooms were cleaned daily. Breakfast was excellent. The best part for me was the heated pools and the jacuzzi, a great place to relax at the end of a long hiking day.

Positive: Location next to the fjords. Beautiful landscape with a pool and sauna (and you can jump in to the frigid water if you want). Nice buffet dinner ($70) and breakfast (included). I was lucky to find a parking space ($10) overnight.

Negative: Attentive Filipino waitress could not understand what a draft beer is. Caucasian staff walking around with head up high, paying no attention to guests. Dysfunctional.

Summary: Beautiful hotel but restaurant staff needs more training in hospitality

Positive: A nice hotel with several facilities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna and tennis courts. It also has good view of the sea and surrounding mountains especially for the rooms located on the waterfront side. The rooms are clean with adequate accessories and the service by the staff is great. A buffet breakfast is served with excellent selections and variety of foods. Free car parking is available with electric charging stations provided (i.e. with a fee NOK 400 per charge). There is a quiet clean small town with few stores nearby.

Negative: The rooms on the street side were not as good due to occasional street noise and poor view.

Positive: We stayed for one night as a family (two adults and a 4-year-old) and were looking forward to experiencing this historic hotel with its beautiful views over the fjords. The location is truly lovely, and the building has a lot of character. However, we were quite disappointed with the overall upkeep and service, which did not match the expectations for a 4-star hotel.

Negative: The room was not very clean, and we found cobwebs in several corners. Towels and bathrobes were not provided for all guests, and we had to ask at reception to receive what was missing. The hotel feels neglected, and some areas are quite shabby despite the building’s potential. It was also the first time I have ever seen hotel beds made so carelessly, with the linens looking wrinkled and clearly not ironed. We also tried the buffet dinner, which we found to be very expensive, even by Norwegian standards, especially considering that the food was quite average. The indoor swimming pool was another disappointment, as it was not heated. Overall, while the view is undeniably beautiful, the hotel needs significant improvements in maintenance, cleanliness, and service to match its four-star rating and pricing.

Positive: The most beautiful views I have ever seen right in front of the hotel. Dining, swimming or jumping in the fjords all with these amazing views!!!

Negative: The hotel booking didn’t mention room views but we were placed in a road view verses a fjord view. Would have been nice to have a choice.

Summary: Absolutely the most beautiful views at a hotel! My entire family loved the hotel. The morning breakfasts were wonderful
