Positive: This hotel is an oasis in Malang. The staff are helpful and charming. We booked a suite with a four poster bed and it was comfortable - although quite difficult for us to get into as it was very high up….but this added to the charm. Breakfast was à la carte and fabulous. We are ate at the restaurant twice and the food was genuinely outstandingly excellent.

Negative: The shower set up was a bit unusual as it was in our massive metal bath. That said, this added to the charm and I knew this when we booked.

Summary: Oasis of calm and elegance in Malang - the only place you should stay when you visit.

Positive: It’s a fancy hotel. It’s totally different from other historical hotels at Java. Don’t forget to make a tour through the whole building. And the Melati restaurant is excellent, breakfast, lunch and diner.

Positive: If you’re looking for the perfect place to stay in Malang, this hotel is unbeatable. The location is absolutely central, honestly, you couldn’t be anywhere better. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed. The welcome massage was divine and set the tone for a relaxing stay. Every day, I enjoyed their tea ceremony, which was calming and beautifully done, along with fresh juices that felt like a treat. The hotel itself is stunning, I’ve never taken so many pictures inside a hotel before! Every corner has character and charm. The rooms were thoughtfully decorated, full of personality, and what really stood out was their commitment to sustainability. Everything was well thought through: stylish glass bottles for soaps, shampoo, conditioner (yes, even conditioner!), and body lotion. No plastic bags in the bins—every detail reflected environmental care. The pool area was lush and inviting, perfect for unwinding. And the men from the reception team were more than Incredible! The biggest smiles, super helpful, knowledgeable, and their English was excellent, a rare find in many parts of Java.

Negative: If I had to point out anything for improvement, it would be the fitness area. It’s outdated and could use heavier dumbbells at the very least. And yes, the price tag is on the higher side.
