Summary: This place hasn’t been touched since the mid 1980s - thick dust and cobwebs everywhere, and the entire property smells like it hasn’t seen fresh air for decades, including the room. I would encourage any tourists to avoid Sandakan in general, as there’s nothing to do, and just base yourself in Sepilok. If you have to stay in Sandakan, only stay here as a last resort.

Summary: The London Hotel is pleasant with friendly staff, close to the centre of the town and its amenities. The shower was excellent and bed comfortable. The rooms were quiet so a good nigt's sleep is assured. It has no lift so if you have mobility problems be aware there are stairs to climb to the rooms.

Summary: Very good location. Just a short walk to the market, Habour Mall, waterfront and the Thousand Steps. Centralized but quiet since the hotel is located right by the foot of a hill with lush vegetations. The hotel is quite old but clean. The mattress was a bit squeaky and not very comfortable as you can feel the metal springs inside. Staff are friendly. Will definitely stay again in future. Highly recommend for low budget travellers.
