Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: We chose this hotel due to the close proximity of the bus station. The hotel is beautiful, in a nice area with lovely views. It was spotlessly clean and the bedrooms and bathrooms large. The bar area outside offers a great place to relax and have a drink.

Negative: On arrival, we were shown to our room and the owner couldn’t get the air conditioning to work. She left the room and we thought she was coming back, she didn’t! We went to the bar to get a drink which was self service from the fridge. We were not offered glasses and I had to ask for a bottle opener. The owner then shouted at me across the room and held up a piece of paper showing me how much the drinks were as she lit a cigarette in an indoor area. As we left to go out for dinner, a young man chased me, waving a piece of paper with the bill. I asked if it could be billed to our room and he handed me the room bill too. I offered to pay by card as the booking said no cash accepted to be told there was no card machine and that there was an ATM down the road. We went out for dinner first and came back to sit on the patio area in the bar and I went to pay the bill in Euros. I was then told that they could only accept notes and the young man behind the bar told me he wouldn’t get paid if we didn’t pay with notes. Breakfast was nice but no coffee, water or juice was offered. Whilst a lot of effort has been spent on the hotel, there were open plug sockets with wires hanging in our room and stairwells. The bathroom light didn’t work either. I must say that Flavio is kind and trying his best but his mother was more intent on having a cigarette and shouting. Flavio drove us to the bus station in the morning which was appreciated. This hotel has so much potential but what should have been a relaxing evening turned out to be stressful in quite an aggressive environment.
