Positive: Everything was great. Comfortable stay. Japanese style dinner and breakfast (Kaiseki) was delicious. Great strong coffee in the morning was also great especially since I'm a coffee drinker. Also many varieties of tea to choose from for those who prefer tea. Great view of the mountains once the dense morning fog lifted. Recommended for those who want to have a real Japanese style experience.

Negative: I didn't book a meal before arrival. After a long day of travel I was refused a meal. There was enough space in the dining room. A good manager would have made a plan.

Positive: Breakfast was traditional Japanese and pats of it were quite good, though it wasn’t a lot. The location was great to enjoy nature. The nearby spa, to which a ticket is included, was quite nice.

Negative: Overall the hotel has seen better days. The room was clean (though the onsen was definitely not), but you can see that the last renovation was probably 20 years ago.

Summary: Has seen better days.

Positive: The hotel is clean and quiet, and the staff are exceptional - the gentleman at the reception who is also driving the shuttle van was very patient with us and made our stay very pleasant. He took very good care of us and made sure we had a taxi picking us up whenever we needed it, explained what we were eating at breakfast, and how to do it properly.

Negative: There are a few things that, in my opinion, can further improve the satisfaction of your guests, especially the ones coming from North America like we were: - add at least one more pick up and one drop off for the shuttle service (1 earlier morning and 1 later in the evening. - consider printing a 1 page document/poster at the reception with some key info regarding the local bus schedule (A021) and any relevant local emergency announcements (e.g. if all trains are canceled due to weather or some other reason). - consider adding a tea kettle or hot water dispenser where the coffee station is.
