Positive: Where to start? Beautifully decored, all rooms look different, it’s cozy, peaceful and quiet yet not so far away from next smaller city I.e. Harlingen. Jildou the owner provides flawless hospitality and serves excellent delicious dinner as well as breakfast. The speciality is that this „Herberge/Hotel“ creates a feeling like in the good ok‘ times and not these cold/modern/over-stylish impersonal Hotels you usually get offered these days. She also offers great inside to really local places to visit aside the tourists areas. Absolutely loved our 3-Nights stay and we surely will be back again.

Positive: Our check-in was well coordinated, though we arrived late, with the owner's father letting us in and giving us all the details, including some history about the 1500s Dutch Independence fighter Great Pier. The honor-system communal mini-bar was so nice. The old build was a former village inn with the upstairs dance hall converted into guest rooms. The downstairs pub is now the breakfast room. Our prearranged breakfast was prepared the next morning by the owner and was delightful, with warm croissants, breads, cheese, deli meats, butter, yogurt, jam, and Dutch sprinkles. We took a short walk along the canal in the morning dewy-ness. Wonderful.

Negative: This was our first stay in the Netherlands and didn't realize they just use small towels after a shower. We adjusted though!

Positive: My husband and I were traveling around Friesland with our teen-aged granddaughter, and we had stayed at this Inn many years ago, so we went back. It has changed hands since then, and it is still charming. The new owner is friendly and helpful. It's just a short drive to Balsward, where we went for dinner, and an easy trip to Sneek the next morning. The breakfast was the best we had on our whole trip. Our rooms were clean and comfortable.

Negative: It did not bother us, but the stairway to the second floor, where the rooms are, is steep. The manager helped us get our bags up there, so it wasn't a problem for us. But others should be aware.
