Positive: The castle has an amazing atmosphere. The thick walls guarantee a peaceful and quiet stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Plenty of parking space. The price included access to the wellness area with a counter-current swimming pool.

Positive: Beautifully renovated castle hotel in the Slovak countryside with modern facilities but still retaining its historical charm. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. We ate in both the a la carte restaurant and the buffet restaurant (you can flexibly book a flat-rate buffet dinner for 25 EUR per person at the reception) and the food was great in both cases. The wellness area has a decent-sized pool and hot tub and had fairly long opening hours (10am-10pm). While there is not much to see or do in the immediate surroundings of the castle (skip Zvolen, it's an industrial town), the beautiful cities of Banska Stiavnica and Banska Bystrica are both just a short drive away – we visited both on a single day trip.

Negative: If I had to nitpick then I'd mention the disappointing coffee situation at the otherwise excellent buffet breakfast. The coffee machine was either out of milk or dispensed really bad coffee on both mornings we tried to use it.

Positive: Having the opportunity to sleep in an medieval castle speaks for itself. The barde music at the breakfast was very authentic.

Negative: It should have been in straw beds, with candles and a stove and no electricity :D but still with a Spa of course! :D

Negative: Short staffed, uncomfortable bed, definitely not a 4 star service. During breakfast we asked for eggs and got a rude answer back saying” no more eggs” even though it was not 10am yet. The Dragon Lounge was nonexistent, doubling as a “kids play area”, what???? Who combines a bar area/cigar lounge with a kids play area???? No pool table, no bar as advertised online. If you check out their website and read the description of each area, you would laugh once you see it. Bad joke! We tried ordering room service and no one would answer the phone for more than 30 minutes and we had to walk to the reception to place an order. Also when we tried ordering bottled water, they ONLY had sparkling available in the hotel!!!??? Went for a massage and the therapist was very good but had my massage in a bright room, lights on, door opened…. How is that relaxing? The management need to REALLY study on what is acceptable and required from international guests of they except more traffic. Definitely a tourist trap. Save your money.

Positive: the heat in the room, and the space in the room were the best. the whole atmosphere is very nice.

Negative: for a 4 stars hotel I would expect a bit more in term of water in the room, maybe coffee in the room, a boiler. but honestly it was amazing!
