Positive: The employees at the desk were outstanding and extremely helpful. Great location on the main strip. Not much noise as the bars shut down by 11pm or so.

Positive: Extremely clean rooms, comfortable beds, and accommodating staff. This is a no frills establishment with small rooms containing a bed, a chair, and a bedside table. Amenities in the room are TVs, air conditioning, soap/shampoo, and towels. The location is really the crown jewel as it is walking distance from the ferry and is located centrally in the north island town. I expected noise outside of the hotel given the location and that was indeed true. However, the external noise seemed more like background noise to me and I had no trouble blocking it out. However the noise inside the hotel was dreadful (laughing people, scraping chairs, screaming kids) and lasted past midnight; people often left the doors open so the noise travelled. The shower head didn't work and sprayed water everywhere except on me. The exterior communal patio was lovely but there were no cushions and the furniture was uncomfortable. After two days of hearing it, I had to complain about a beeping smoke alarm that needed a battery changed. A few minor improvements could make this place quite comfortable.

Negative: Noise, uncomfortable patio seats, basic maintenance needed for shower to work.
