Positive: We spent wonderful time during our week at Hostel Xaxid. Duzan and Tina are great hosts, eager to talk and to help. Thanks to them, we felt like at home and learned a lot about Slovenia, Istria, and also about Duzan’s many passions (painting, geology…). He really put his heart into the renovation of the houses. We stayed at a separate house, but could use the tables in their courtyard for lovely apéritives and dinners outside. The place is great to enjoy a real Slovenian countryside experience, as they are old stone houses in a village in the mountains, with cocks singing in the morning and dark nights to observe the stars! It is also convenient to visit south west Slovenia (the coast, Piran, Izola, Postojna et Skocjan caves…) The house is simple but clean and confortable, great for a family.

Negative: There are no shops or restaurants in the village or nearby, so you have to anticipate before getting there. The playground on the photo is nice with kids, it is a few minutes walk from the hostel (not immediately next to it). But it is minor commentaries ;-)
