Summary: Great location, walking distance to metro, parks, dining, shopping, sightseeing. Room on the small side and needs a refresh. Desk chair was wobbly. Staff were very nice.

Summary: My stay in Chengdu was pretty good but marred, with one exception, by a staff with little or no English. International travelers from all continents use English as a travel language. Breakfast good, staff nice. TV had only one English channel, the Chinese news network. Mostly good. Metro a long walk, as was Tianfu Square. Used many taxis. Fortunately cheap, as was food. Not too much around, and required walking up a very high overpass to get to other streets, the bank or other stores. One great feature was free washer dryer use, rare in hotels. No safe or refrigerator in room, but they provided a free fridge. Also, though a good sized room, no dresser drawers and yet there was space for one. Had small gym with very little equipment. No maps of area to provide.

Summary: Big rooms and comfortable beds. Delicious breakfast. About 10 to 15 minutes walk from Tianfu Square. Close to lots of eating places. Hotel partially hidden behind another building. Use Baidu map to locate the hotel. Google map sent us to the wrong location.

Summary: Absolutely Miserable Stay – Avoid This Hotel! I booked the Holiday Inn Express TianFu Square in Chengdu through Expedia expecting the usual standard of comfort, but what I got was a masterclass in cutting corners and guest discomfort. Let’s start with the air conditioning—or lack of it. Despite scorching summer temperatures, the room A/C was purposely disabled to save electricity. That’s right, only the lobby had cool air. So unless you’re planning to sleep next to the reception desk, prepare to sweat through the night. This isn't just inconvenient—it’s negligent. The room was advertised with amenities that simply didn’t exist. For instance, no mini fridge—which meant no cold water, no storage for leftovers, and zero convenience. The shower stall leaked water all over the bathroom floor, forcing me to use towels to soak it up each time. The food? Disappointing at best. The breakfast options were bland and uninspired—clearly the result of cost-cutting rather than any attempt to provide a pleasant experience. Holiday Inn Express is supposed to offer basic comfort and reliability, but this branch in Chengdu fell drastically short. Between the sweltering room, poor amenities, and unimpressive food, I left feeling duped. Do yourself a favour and book literally anywhere else.

Summary: Room is super huge, as it is a minimalist hotel. Location of room assigned on first night was bad, very noisy with vehicles passing till morning, could not sleep. Requested a quieter facing room for my next stay, not that bad then, face some eateries. Breakfast spread is great, many choices local fare, warm drinks, suit me a lot. Location wise, need to walk quite a bit to shopping mall for meals.
