Positive: Unfortunately, it was raining during our stay, but I did like the fact that I could sit outside under cover to appreciate the surroundings. I also appreciated the free coffee and tea in the AM.

Negative: The food in the dining room was not good. My crock of French onion soup was filled with croutons so much so there was very little broth; could tell if there were many onions. The halibut was so bad, I couldn't eat it. I never send food back but had to; it was not hard and tough. Halibut is supposed to be flaky and tender. As a result, we opted to eat breakfast as a restaurant outside the hotel. The shower head in the bathroom could have made the experience more pleasant. I appreciate that the hotel is old, but little things that can be upgraded, while retaining the historic charm, could be addressed.

Positive: Loved stepping back in time and exploring this amazingly well maintained but true to its history hotel! Staff were friendly and competent, open to questions and requests.

Negative: Booking.com did not make clear which rooms had a view. Originally assigned a lovely room with no view, staff was wonderful about accommodating room switch request, but it would have been nice to start in a room with a view.

Summary: Can't wait to go back!

Negative: Needs updating. Missing shampoo. Never cool to discover while in the shower.
