The holiday home "Casa la Cala" together with five other houses the center of the mountain village in the valley of Tenteniguada Valsequillo, located in the northeast of the island of Gran Canaria. The house has been lovingly restored, it dates from the period around 1600 and was built as a stable for donkeys and goats, its up to 80 cm thick walls consist only of boulders and clay. Summary: Breakfast outside was a joy. It would be helpful to have a few more details of how to find the property over the last few metres. It isn't entirely obvious. It would also be helpful to have advanced information as to where to park. But that aside weoved the property and found Renee a very kind host - despite us being out and about most of the time.

Summary: Renee and Hans are marvellous hosts and have created a wonderfully atmospheric home away from home. Tenteniguada is a great base to explore the stupendous interior as well as the northern coast. There is nice hiking in the Valsequillo area as well. We found good supermarkets in San Mateo, and the cheapest gas on the island! Renee will do a laundry and it does dry in a couple of days. The shower gets hot but the water cools when doing the dishes. Despite the cool in the house, we slept well under the warm blankets.

Summary: Lovely place in a quiet location, everything you need is all to hand, Renne the owner is a lovely person and will help and advise on whatever you may need, walking maps for the area are available, public transport is pretty good and the local bar / grill is a friendly place with good fresh homemade food using local produce, the local Spa store has most things you need including a meat counter and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, the views from the garden are the icing on the cake for what is a little gem.

Summary: Had a wonderful stay in Tenteniguada, perfect if you want some where quiet to relax, great local pub up the road and scenic walks nearby, the property itself has everything you need. Very comfortable and stunning scenery. We hired a car and it was easy to explore the local areas, getting to the beaches and more touristy spots doesn’t take long. Great hidden gem!

Summary: What an amazing little find, the property was lovely just right for our needs. The welcome pack of wine, water, fruit and home made jam ( delicious ) was a nice touch. Renee was available next door if needed, gave us good advice about getting food on our first night. Walks around the area well signposted and locals in the bars/restaurant were very friendly. A lovely relaxing week, sometimes we just sat in the garden, reading, enjoying the sun and the occasional beer
