Positive: What a place! Beautiful house in the process of renovation, wonderful host who greeted us like old friends and showed us to a comfortable room with a lovely bed and fabulous hot shower. Towels provided with a cheeky grin!
Negative: Room was a bit chilly but we found the radiator and once that got going it was fine.

Positive: I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hilston Park while visiting the area for a two-day forging class to make my own kitchen knife. I discovered this charming place online and booked through Booking.com, and I’m so glad I did! Upon arrival, we drove down a private lane that led us to the grand building set against the backdrop of stunning views of blackcurrant fields and rolling hills. The picturesque scenery instantly set a relaxing tone for our trip. We arrived an hour early, but our gracious host welcomed us warmly and attended to our every need, making us feel right at home. It was delightful to be accompanied by Hugo, the gentle giant of a dog who brought an added warmth to the atmosphere. Our rooms were impeccably clean and cozy, and after dropping off our bags, my dad and I headed to the archery range for a little friendly competition. Later, we enjoyed sitting by the open log fire in the Manor House, creating the perfect setting for a game of chess and some quality father-son bonding. The following morning, we indulged in a vegetarian Indian breakfast featuring Gobhi Paratha and traditional tea. This unique dish was a delightful first for me—generous portions that fueled us for a day at the forge. After a long day of forging, we returned to the Manor for dinner. The vegetarian Indian curry was bursting with flavor, and the homemade apple crumble made with fresh apples from the on-site orchard was the perfect finish to our meal. Spending another evening by the fireplace playing chess while reflecting on the day was exactly what we needed. I had read various reviews about Hilston Park before my visit, noting comments about the uniqueness of the place and the importance of approaching it with an open mind. Having experienced it myself, I find this feedback accurate. While there were some signs of wear in areas, it’s clear that efforts are being made to enhance the property, and it’s on an encouraging path.

Positive: It was an amazing stately home which is being renovated. Our accomodation was renovated & at a good standard. My husband enjoyed the shower in particular. The thing I liked the most was the owners vision to make the home into a charity & provide holidays for children. This he was doing while keeping to his Sikh values. We felt this was very commendable.( We aren't Sikhs) We enjoyed the expression of the Sikh faith while also being sympathetic to the stately homes history. It gave an interesting twist We really enjoyed the welcome & tour of the property. It was a great experience. We also picked apples in the extensive grounds
Negative: We did enjoy breakfast but I felt it was over priced.I feel that fruit, cereal could be added. With addition of fruit juice. The yoghurt was very nice.
Summary: Great experience with a twist

Positive: The customer service here is 6 star! Value for money is extraordinary, food sublime. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful. An experience not just a nights stay, the building is fantastic and the setting amazing. Manny however even exceeds this super high level of standards and service, the guy is a a real gem, no words, Thanks Manny. Ask to see if you can be treated to private dining with his traditional breakfast / lunchtime food. You must try this place, we will be.

Positive: Loved our one night stay here, the room was basic but cosy and quiet, Manny the host was incredibly friendly, helpful and enthusiastic, he explained a lot of the site is being developed and some areas need more work than others but everything we had access to was great It was an odd choice for us for a couples retreat but so glad we did stay here, the breakfast with Indian beans on toast and tea was lovely went down a right treat ( Thanks Ramsay! ) We had a lovely sunny walk around the small lake in the morning I can imagine this place with a few years more development will be an even nicer place to stay, Manny sounds like a man with a plan so we will be back to find out for ourselves one day ( apparently Manny just needs to work harder ;) :D ) The roads to the site are narrow and unlit so just approach the journey with care Good luck guys you are on the right track
Negative: Shower could do with power, Manny apologised in advance for this though Some indian sweets would be nice in the room :D
Summary: Quirky, friendly and enjoyable
