Positive: Absolute stunning property, we had such a wonderful stay here, I was sad to leave, the views are amazing, walks straight from the door, the barn has everything you need, comfortable bed, lovely fireplace, good kitchen, great shower. Love the open plan layout, although I personally wouldn't want to stay here with children for that reason & there are no curtains, but you can pull the wooden shutters around the bed downstairs if you wished, staying in October I woke around 7am, we left the shutters open. The location is very private & quiet (although if the house up the track had been occupied, as I know that gets rented out too, that could have made things feel slightly different as it's only a stones throw away, but it was empty whilst we were there). We didn't see or speak to the host once there, but there was no need as we had received all the necessary info ahead of our stay & there is a book inside telling you what to do when you leave the property. The cleaner was arriving just as we were leaving on the day we departed. The garden isn't secure, which was fine for my dog, but might not be suitable for others, there must have been some stray sheep or deer in the garden at some point, as they had left droppings, we saw some deer in a nearby field.

Negative: We came in our Discovery, but my husbands M4 wouldn't have made it up the track, so not a negative but just a warning that a 4X4 is more suitable. It was ok for us staying in October but I'd imagine in the summer months, longer days, I would have been woken at the crack of dawn by my dog, as there are no curtains. Going to the toilet in the night, I did often wonder of anyone could see me, but it is a very secluded location. (apart from the main house, just up the track)

Positive: Clean and comfortable accommodation with views over the Wye valley from the garden and through the floor to ceiling doors, which are beautiful. We were surrounded by wildlife, including a short visit from a few Fallow deer. We went on a few walks from High view barn to the river and Monmouth. It's also only a 25 minute drive to Symonds Yat.

Negative: Nothing not to like

Positive: Stunningly beautiful location, amazing accommodation. High on a wooded valley side with excellent views. Very quiet and private. Modern accommodation in a converted barn.

Negative: Property about 3/4 mile up a single track road, last few hundred yards a cart track. It is not suitable for a low slung vehicle like a sports car, but ok for a family saloon type.

Positive: A beautiful, secluded location, with stunning views of the Wye Valley. Set in woodland, we saw deer and pheasants wandering past the property. There are walks directly from the barn with Penallt Old Church just a short walk through the field. The Wye Valley national park is just a few miles away as are the amenities of Monmouth. The barn itself is designed to make the most of the views. We kept the sliding doors open, which kept the barn nice and cool inside. We stayed in summer so we didn't use the wood burner, but we imagine the barn would be lovely and cosy in the colder months. The barn is open plan, with a pleasant interior with solid wood features in the living area and a light and spacious kitchen. We didn't see our hosts but we received all the necessary information ahead of our visit, so there was no need for further contact. All the facilities were as described so we knew what to expect. We would definitely stay again.

Negative: There were no issues for us. However the open plan layout could be restrictive if you went as a family. There are solid wood sliding doors to partition the main bedroom and two single beds above in an open loft space. This is fine if you go to bed at the same time, or have children who are heavy sleepers. Otherwise the adults may need to hang outside for a bit.
