1 Bedroom Cabin in Acton Park

Ready for a bush hideaway? Hideaway@Acton is a rustic wood cabin located at the rear of my 2.5 acre property in Acton Park. A highlight of the cabin is the 'window wall' giving you uninterrupted views of the bushland, eucalyptus trees and the occasional wallaby! The property features one bedroom (queen sized bed) with ensuite bathroom and an open plan living space incorporating a kitchenette, dining and lounge area with sofabed (double sized bed).
Hideaway@Acton is a rustic and homely cabin that invites you to become one with nature. Two antique chairs facing the ''window wall" make a wonderful spot to sit and view the outdoors with a cuppa or glass of wine in hand, perfect if the Tasmanian weather is at its unpredictable best. Feel like a book or magazine to read or getting comfy on the lounge with a movie? Or some music to chill out with or sing along too? There are plenty of magazines, books, CD's, vinyl records and DVD's for your use.
The cabin is open plan with a separate bedroom and ensuite bathroom/ toilet leading off the bedroom. There is a queen size bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge area that pulls out to a double sized bed. The sofa bed would suit an extra adult or two children. A single sized self inflating air mattress is also available upon request.
Please note for guests sleeping on the sofa bed they will need to go through the bedroom to access the toilet. If desired, a privacy screen can be placed at the end of the queen bed to minimise disturbance at night.
The kitchenette is fully equipped for self-catering with a microwave, plug in two burner cooktop, air fryer, kettle, toaster, fridge and toasted sandwich maker for your use. We have chickens blessing us with fresh eggs and grow a variety of fruit and vegetables which we share with guests (when in season). Breakfast provisions are included for your first two mornings.
The cabin has unlimited WI-FI access and with a recent upgrade in the area to 5G, is very responsive. The mobile tower is nearby, however the cabin's bush location and close proximity of trees may impact occasionally and downloads/uploads may slow down. Very poor weather may affect WIFI connection and TV reception. There are DVD's, boardgames, a record player and plenty of cosy spots to sit and take advantage of the natural surroundings if the WI-FI is not co-operating.
The cabin has a small portable washing machine that can be set up in the bathroom for washing for small loads of washing. We suggest using a coin operated laundrette (Loads of Suds, in nearby Rokeby) for larger loads, please see the cabin's Guest Directory for further details.
We have two dogs, Toby and Winnie, who enjoy roaming around the property, however they will not be able to enter the area near the front of the cabin as a boundary wire/collar system stops their entry. Our dogs are very much loved by our family but we understand not everybody likes dogs and Winnie can sometimes bark at unfamiliar people (she is a rescue dog that was treated badly as a young pup).
As we are in a bushland setting we are blessed with many furry and feathered visitors, wallabies, rabbits, galahs, parrots, cockatoos, possums, kookaburras and the occasional wombat and echidna! Bugs and insects are a natural part of bush life also. A birdbath is placed near the cabin deck to encourage the birds to drink and bathe in. We ask that you not feed the birds or animals so they continue to forage for food in their environment. The cabin has a can of insect spray to deal with any small uninvited visitors and we have the cabin professionally sprayed every 3 months. We want you to have a great experience on your well earned break and enjoy the variety of songs from the birdlife and the goings on of our furry friends!

Summary: My partner and I are incredibly fortunate to have stayed at Melissa’s hideaway for a long-term period. It could not have been more perfect for us!!! Nestled in the gum trees, the cabin is super close to all the walking trails and beautiful surf beaches of the South Arm Penninsula, yet still only 20 mins drive from Hobart CBD - making it an ideal spot for nature lovers who also need to zip into the city. The cabin is oh so cosy, with wonderful north-facing windows that soak the living space with sunlight in the morning and early afternoon. We enjoyed many mornings and evenings watching the wallabies, rabbits and kookaburras through the windows - and on warmer days, we’d sit out on the deck to really immerse ourselves! And another big highlight was Melissa’s warm & loving spirit. She was always there to help us out and make sure we were doing well! All in all, Hideaway @ Acton is the perfect place to relax, ground yourself and connect with nature. ❤️

Summary: Upon entering Hideaway@ Acton, our first impressions were 'WOW'!! From the welcome bottle of wine to the complimentary pairs of slippers to the retro music collection to the supplied breakfast and provisions to the 'piece de resistance', the 'window wall' that opens up onto the very private deck. We continued to discover so many thoughtful touches in this homely, spacious cabin which made our stay very peaceful and relaxing. Our host, Melissa, is extremely friendly and welcoming and it is very obvious she is passionate in making sure her guests experience the very best stay possible. We highly recommend booking Hideaway@ Acton and look forward to staying there again when visiting Tasmania.
