Travel Purpose: business

Positive: The property was in a quiet location with Aldi, an M&S Foodhall and Tesco nearby. The sea was a short drive away. The decorative state of the house was excellent. There was parking on the driveway.

Negative: I felt the property was overpriced at £1350 for one week in October. The property was stated as sleeping 10, but the dining table only had seating places for 5 people (5 chairs available). The downstairs bedroom contained a fridge, freezer and tumble dryer (contained within a large cupboard) with a collapsed rotary clothes dryer propped against one of the walls. Boards and mats were stored underneath the bed of the smallest room and the bed linen on this bed did not smell fresh. There were also small tables on either side of this bed with pointed edges at head height when lying down and getting up. The bed was low to the ground and would not have suited an older person. The outside refuse storage was immediately against the downstairs bedroom window and was full of fruit flies. It would not have been advisable to open the window of this bedroom, nor open the shutters. This darkened the room. The house was generally cold (we stayed in October) but I understand I would have needed to contact the owner to ask for the heat to be increased. I did not appreciate having no control over the heating when I had paid such a high price to rent the property (and when there were solar panels on the roof). The 'welcome box' was very frugal: it contained a packet of biscuits, a bag of crisps, 2 coffee pods and 1 coffee sachet. (I tried to use the Tassimo coffee machine, but no instructions were given.) I later found some coffee granules and some sugar in canisters, along with 1 teabag in another. A carton of milk would have been helpful. We felt there could have been a greater variety of cooking pots available. We were a party of 7 and struggled a bit with what was available. There was nowhere in the bedrooms to put folded clothes (just hanging rails and bedside lockers). There did not appear to be a cot. I was unhappy with the fact that, if I had failed to put out the correct refuse bin(s) on the stated day, money would have been deducted from my account via the GHB.

Positive: The space is ideal for family groups. We took 4 17-19 year olds and they loved the garden room. The house is well decorated and the beds are comfortable. The under cover sofa area outside is helpful although the lights weren’t working.

Negative: There are very few mirrors and the refrigerators aren’t working in the garden room. Water pressure is interesting. Windows, oven, shutters and plug holes could do with a thorough clean.

Summary: Lovely stay in a spacious and well decorated home from home.
