Positive: I like that is is located right downtown only a 2 min walk to the beach and the downtown shopping/restaurants etc. I also love that the check in is very easy, requires no deposit or hold on your acccount- just a valid credit card in the event something is damaged, if not then you simply just pay for your room, sleep, and check out- only paying for the room. I did find the room rate to be very expensive though. While I understand that in comparison to the $45ish bed cost for a hostel is average and a great bargain if you need something cheap and are looking for communal living…for their regular room rates, they offer great staff, processes and pricing- usually.

Negative: myself and my partner ended up in town very unexpectedly and at the last minute decided to stay over night. A double occupancy should we had a bed each in dorms would have been about $90+tax, the one “private” bunk bed room for two people cost us $170+tax. That’s more than most high end hotels cost per night. We could have stayed at a best western, a Sheraton or something in a king suite or a cabin suite at a resort for that price. When it comes to budget level places- we could have stayed for 2-3 nights for the same price and still had a queen bed to sleep on if not two and a private bathroom and working tv. Unfortunately we didn’t have the time or the ability to consider another option because of our circumstances. So we were able to pay for the room and have privacy, but the room itself was 6x10 ft aprox. With a bunk bed, a shared bathroom down the hall with other residents. These aren’t horrible circumstances- given we had paid the Roxie appropriate for them. What I’m really upset about is the staff and their attempt to charge me double that price- stating that the private room was $170/person when we had called first. I had assumed that like other hostels and their other chains locations that “private room” meant a queen bed in a room+ more. We booked online instead and still were paying too much.

Summary: Overpriced and unusual compared to what value/price we are used to as regular guests with HI.

Positive: Sleeping accommodations were fine

Negative: Lobby smelled badly of fish as soon as I walked in, extra money for parking. Yes hostels have quiet times overnight, but the kitchen was locked, so when I went to leave in the morning I couldn't grab my drink or food I left in the fridge, so I left 20 bucks in the fridge. Overall not happy about that. It's fine for a night, bot overall not the best spot.

Positive: I’d like to thank Mark for his great service. He was very informative, polite, and helpful, and he made the check-in process smooth and easy. Really appreciated his attitude and support. The room location was convenient, and the price was excellent. Overall, it offers great value for money.

Negative: Some of the pillows had a few stains, so it might be worth replacing them. Also, our labeled food went missing from the shared fridge. It wasn’t a big issue, but a little disappointing.

Negative: Facilities were quite dirty and run down. It could do with a bit of renovation and better general upkeep.
