This luxury lodge is privately owned and can accommodate 4 guests in comfort with all modern amenities for a great self catering holiday break.Heron Lodge is very well equipped and pride ourselves in presenting this property in immaculate order to enable our guests to have a very comfortable stay all year round.Set in the former grounds of Cairnyard House on an uncommercialised site. Located 5 miles from Dumfries town on the A711 (Dumfries and Dalbeattie Road) and 1 mile before Beeswing village.

Summary: Hmm, where to start with this review. There are two important bits of information that should have described in bold and on the important information category. This information was in the 83 amenities list and under notes. One ,we need to provide anywhere from 1 or more for heating. We found out about this after making the second payment and the PDF we received days prior to our arrival. Later i saw its in the notes under the 83 amenities category, it was buried in the listing. There is a section with important information that doesn't say a thing about this. Second, we had to bring our own towels, not provided at all. Again, under the notes part of the 83 amenities section. Not in the important information section at the front of the listing. I understand pets are allowed but there was dog hair all over the place, its as no ine Hoovered at all. The beds were hard as a rock,like sleeping on the floor. The wifi could of been better, it was hard to stream anything at the end of our day. Most places to visit closed at 5pm so we were back having dinner and unwinding. But with kids it was rough with WiFi being spotty. Oh the hot water needs to be fixed. We found out the first night and second night that four people can't take showers in one single night. I ended up taking a Navy Shower both nights. It was mighty cold, so we staggered the showers two at night and two in the morning, which cut in to our time to get out and see the sights. As I said needs some work for 5 stars.

Summary: Lovely comfortable lodge with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Fantastic dog walking from the doorstep in the very quiet forest. Short drive to beautiful Mersehead RSPB reserve and Arbigland Gardens.

Summary: Property was an ideal base for us to attend a hockey tournament in Dumfries. It was quiet, had great views and everything we needed. So much better than staying in a hotel in the area. We were able to explore surrounding attractions including the brilliant Loch Arthur farm shop and cafe

Summary: Unfortunately the weather was pretty terrible. The area does not have a lot to do in bad weather, particularly if you have a dog with you. The lodge was nice but is quite far from anything of interest. If you had good weather and just wanted to explore the local countryside and nearby coast it would probably be great. We got full check-in info while already on holiday the previous week. It mentioned we needed to bring our own “pot towel” and towels. We had towels but not a tea towel, so we bought one before arriving. There were actually 3 in the property.

Summary: Wow what a find! This property is wonderful, it really is a bargain price compared to others, perfect location with so much to do in the surrounding areas. The lodge is cleaned to the highest of standards and so homely and comfortable. It had everything we needed. Prior to arrival Louise was great with her communication and on arrival everything was perfect and the guest book was so useful with loads of suggestions for things to do. We had the most wonderful holiday, definitely booking again.

Summary: Really very good value you for money and nice lodge only two things I would recommend is that the front door lip a bit too high for a wheelchair great having the ramp and the shower is very weak but a good location and nice and quiet

Summary: The property was in a beautiful location and inside was lovely and clean. Also everything you need in the cupboards Garden area was great and a lot of the farm animals came to say hello Nice walks nearby and other lovely places to visit by car. Would recommend people who are looking for a peaceful stay especially if you have a dog
