Positive: I cannot rate our stay highly enough we were literally a few steps from the beach, paje is a 40 min walk along the beach so easy to get to if you want more restaurants and bars Our room was lovely and the staff were all simply amazing and we will miss them all. The Karoke on a Tuesday was the best! As was the BBQ night honestly so glad we came here we loved our two weeks here - thank you so much Helwas beach

Positive: Great location in Bwejuu. We stayed in a queen suite with full sea view. Great beach front location. Registration is at Mayai Ocean Breeze 30 metres away but luggage is transported for you. Good sized clean and comfortable room with facilities as advertised. Cleaning is by request at Mayai reception. Staff very pleasant and Anthony was very helpful. Good breakfast at Mayai with plenty of choice, even for a 9 night stay. Bars and restaurants within easy walking distance, and would recommend Simba on the main road. Helwas bar is good and also has small menu, ideal for lunch if you don't want to walk anywhere. Would recommend.
Negative: Limited number of beach beds with shade which wasn't a problem as Helwas wasn't fully occupied in August but might be an issue at busier times.

Positive: We had a very pleasant stay at Helwas Beach Resort and really enjoyed our time here. The atmosphere is relaxing, the people are always kind and welcoming, and the location is perfect for enjoying the beautiful Zanzibar coastline. A special mention definitely goes to the breakfast, which was fantastic! A great way to start every day, with delicious food and plenty of choice. But what really made our stay even more enjoyable was the kindness and friendliness of the staff. A very special thank you to the lovely girls at the reception, especially Irene and Siria. They were always welcoming, helpful and ready to assist us with a smile. Thank you to everyone at Helwas Beach Resort for making us feel welcome and for contributing to a beautiful stay in Zanzibar. We definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and pleasant holiday surrounded by the beauty of the island!

Positive: Helwas Beach Resort is attached to Mayai Ocean Resort (not adjacent, but rather one property over). While check-in, swimming pool, and breakfast is all at the main location, Helwas offers a more quiet place to stay. The pool was nice, the place was clean, and the staff was friendly. Prices online seem to be better than in-person.
Negative: The breakfast is basic, having to choose from a set menu. The steps were steep and not uniform to get to reach our accommodations.

Positive: Very kind and helpful staff, especially the reception. Breakfast was good with a decent variety. The resort let us switch rooms after a noise issue outside our original room without a quarrel.
Negative: The in-house restaurant was ok, but not worth the money. I'd recommend walking down the beach and finding one of the countless other places for dinner.

Positive: This is a very nice place, staffed by very nice people. It's well-maintained, clean, and the pool area is a great addition. It also offers an excellent breakfast. The breakfast consists of fresh fruit, and then your choice of mains. After a month in Africa it was so nice to have eggs that aren't overcooked.
Negative: It would be nice to have wifi in the rooms, but the wifi in the bar worked great and it was actually kind of nice to get my work done sitting at an outdoor bar facing the ocean.
Summary: This is a beautiful place to chill in comfort.

Positive: The hotel is in front of the beach, so you can really enjoy the ocean view. The staff was very kind and helpful. The food was well prepared. Our host arranged for us with an extra cost daily activities/trips.
