Positive: The staff could not have been more friendly or accommodating. They made us feel so welcome. The room with private bath is one of the best choices we could have made, and the view of the mountains from the bath made it even more relaxing. . And sitting on our balcony watching the sun set whilst using the footbath, drinking green tea was amazing. We had a beauridul private dining room. The food was out of this world. The Yamagata local produce was cooked/prepared beautifully and even the shoyu and rice were so tasty. Everything was exquisitely presented and the table service was exceptional. We arrived feeling very stressed from a hectic time at our work and left feelling completely rejuvenated and detoxed. The staff here at this hotel are wonderful. So professional and friendly. We felt so welcome. One of our party used the wellness services and said their treatments were really effective and helped a lot after a long day of climbing. Highly recommended. The beds were very comfortable and the room amenities excellent.

Negative: It's difficult to criticise this hotel at all but perhaps more access to cold water would be nice after spending time in the warm onsen.

Summary: The best ryokan for deep relaxation and rejuvenation!

Positive: The 24 hour public hot spring was amazing and the in-room hot spring was simply the best. The staff were above and beyond kind and accommodating. The facilities were worth walking around and enjoying on their own; such a beautiful and relaxing place. Breakfast was such a treat; authentic and delicious.

Negative: The only thing that comes to mind is our preference for the bed/pillows; both were too firm for our liking.

Summary: Beautiful onsen experience that was reasonably priced in the perfect mountain setting.

Positive: The meals were exceptional, served in a different private dining space each night, and the staff were extremely courteous and helpful in assisting with any requests. The view from our balcony over Kaminoyama and towards the mountains was beautiful, and the public onsen (indoor and outdoor baths) was lovely. It was an especial treat to have a private hot spring bath in the room, and a footbath on the balcony. The public lounge areas were comfortable and relaxing. Shuttle buses to and from the station also made our stay really convenient.
