Positive: Harlow Hotel is in a historic old building in an old part of Portland. The building was gutted and refurbished with a 1920s-1930s theme, which we found delightful. There are many interesting restaurants, coffee shops, and trades people near the hotel. It is close to historic Union Station for trains. The hotel is secure and safe. The desk clerk was very responsive and helpful. Parking at the hotel is a problem, so plan to pay $32 extra to park in a public lot a half block away.

Negative: The shower needs to have grab bars added for safety, and a hook near the door for the towel and robe. One of the robes had no belt, and the robes do not have belt loops. The heated towel rail was non-operative.

Summary: Stay safely in the interesting Pearl district.

Positive: This is a lovely restored downtown hotel. The facilities are upscale, and the amenities in the room are well thought out and executed. Robes, slippers, towel warmer, a giant shower with plenty of water and a comfortable bed. We're using the train to get to Portland now, so it's location is perfect. We walked with 2 suitcases each the short 3 blocks from Union station, and it's kind of typical urban walking, felt safe the while time. The food truck court is a few blocks away and there are dozens of restaurants for something more civilized. This is my second stay, and both times the staff was first class. Highly recommend.

Negative: The entrance needs to me more clear. It's a little confusing as there are actually 3 doors that can be entered, 2 on Glisan and I've arrive the corner. Very minor detail.

Positive: The location will not suit some people because of the homeless situation in the surrounding area. However, the hotel is near transport, lovely park blocks and great restaurants. We never felt unsafe or threatened.

Negative: There is no fridge or coffee maker in the room. The windows outside were very dirty, and we paid extra for a corner room with lots of windows so we could see the park. The window shades need replacing or realignment. But everything very clean inside. The bed pillows are lumps of foam stuff - uncomfortable, but the mattress was firm.

Summary: Nothing horrible, but will try some other hotel next tm ime.

Positive: Conveniently located & secure entry. Small boutique hotel with private bathroom, good bath products, heated towel rack, and slippers. Usually quiet. Walking distance from some restaurants, breweries, and bars. View of the art college from our room. We were able to get street parking right in front of the hotel where there are cameras and see our car from our window. A park was next-door with people playing bocce. I think there was some sort of free entertainment (music, comedy) in the lounge on the weekend, but we were out at the time. There was also a free beer which we didn’t take the time to get.

Negative: No dedicated parking. No complementary coffee, but there was coffee service for a price. Friday or Saturday there was some very late-night noise from the street and park. Sometimes people sleeping in the park.

Summary: This is a neat boutique hotel with an affordable price
