Positive: Everything was perfect! I chose Haiya because I was looking for a high-end ryokan experience outside of the typical tourist areas and it did not disappoint. Even before I arrived, the communication from Haiya about logistics was much appreciated. The shuttle to/from Awara Onsen station was so convenient and easy to find. The check-in procedure was smooth. A delicious kaiseki dinner and breakfast were served in a private room in the dining area. The public onsen was so relaxing. My room was spacious, quiet. and comfortable with a snowy garden view. Of course, the service was excellent in every way.

Positive: Everything was great. Comfortable stay. With wife and family. The Japanese style dinner and breakfast was delicious and with the excellent server's gave it a wonderful experience. The inside onsen was good, but the outside onsen hot spring was perfect for this time of year with the cool air around you. Great View of the mountains from our 7th floor room. Recommended for those who want to have real Japanese style experience.

Positive: Haiya Ryokan Hotel is an exceptional property. Its beautiful and traditional facility is complimented by the exceptional service from all staff. The rooms are quiet, very clean and elegant. Most enjoyable is the Onsen bath. I would highly recommend.

Negative: I especially appreciate the accommodation of the chef who made so much food for dinner and breakfast and even made western breakfast for my sons! It is my problem that we were overwhelmed by all the food!

Summary: Elegant, tranquil, beautiful and traditional Ryokan with exceptional service, facilities and restorative onsen.
