Positive: The location is the main draw here. We had spectacular views in 3 different directions. The room itself was very clean and had everything we needed. The friendly staff were very accommodating and the buffet breakfast was well stocked and delicious.

Negative: The location can be an issue due to the logistical demands of being placed directly on the Mont. This property is managed by one office in a different hotel which involves walking up 2 flights of stairs, exiting the back of that hotel, walking along the outside wall and into a different building after ascending and descending several stairs between the two buildings, then walking up another set of spiral stairs to find our room on the top floor, followed by another set of stairs once inside the room. There are no elevators. When we left our building, we had to exit down another set of very steep concrete stairs with virtually no railings into the main "street" of Mont St. Michel. Do not book unless your knees can take it and anticipate the possibility that your bathroom may not be on the same floor as your bed. Take care around any bed placed under a vaulted ceiling. Bumped heads will happen. In our case, x3.

Positive: The location, room view and cleanliness are great.

Negative: When we arrived the staff got us waiting, it was at night. The breakfast is not included in the price, and it is expensive as well. How come a hotel does not offer breakfast?

Summary: The mont Saint Michel is great. Everything is overpriced. Hotel didn't meet expectations.

Positive: Superb location with fine views to the east over Normandy - if you pay extra for a room with a window. Loved watching the full moon over the Bay, then the colours changing next morning as the sun rose. I ate at the neighbouring Auberge St Pierre which remains open until 21:00. Although in an ancient building, my room was modern and warm. A spiral staircase took me up to the top floor - best to take minimal luggage, as recommended. Try to arrive in good time to make the most of the experience and visit the Abbey, if you're OK with lots of steps. You'll park in P3, reserved for hotel guests, and will take a shuttle bus to the Mont. You will need a code from the hotel to enter the parking area - email or call them in advance.

Negative: It wasn't cheap but there are few hotels on the Mont so you'll pay for the experience. Breakfast seemed rather expensive at 19 euros so I didn't bother. Things to note - there are few lights on the Mont itself so a smartphone or ordinary torch is essential to walk around after sunset. There are no convenience stores on the Mont so take your own snacks or drinks. A fridge was provided in the room with a bottle of water.
