Positive: I was pleasantly shocked by how attentive and caring the staff at this hotel were. I was absolutely thrilled with the breakfast and dinner, and I was also pleasantly surprised by the selection of high-quality (though not cheap) local wines. At night, it was perfectly quiet, so I slept like a baby. This place was recommended to me by my sister, who stayed here about five years ago, and it seems like the hotel not only preserves its traditions but continues to improve!

Negative: All good things come at a price.

Positive: The raving reviews did not exaggerate. Breakfast is not the usual open buffet deal. When we arrived at the hotel for our first meal, we were given a table and that was our table for the whole stay! It was set for us every time we came down. In the morning as we sat down the chef came to our table and asked what we usually liked for breakfast. Eggs, continental, etc. We weren't sure, so he gave us choices, and we picked the scrambled eggs which were delicious, but the table is also set with 3 types of honey, 3 types of jam, salami, ham, cheese assortment, everything locally sourced. The next day we were greeted with a set table with steaming hot pancakes and nutella :) Dinner is also excellent. My preteen kids made sure I tell the chef personally that this was their best hotel experience ever, by far.

Negative: We were in the family apartment, huge excellent bunkbed in the separate room for the kids. We slept on the sofa-bed, which is the spring-operated metal frame type. The mattress is always a bit stiff on these types, but that was less of a problem, however the springs and metal frame creaked loudly with every single tiny body movement, that was really the only complaint we had overall. No biggie.
