Positive: Shiori-san is not just a guesthouse owner; she is a very special soul in this universe, an angel who sincerely cares for her guests. I feel very lucky to have met her. I would come here again just to see her. The guesthouse is very comfortable, and you can choose to stay in either an old-style Japanese house or a modern house. Shiori-san will always make sure you're happy and plans amazing activities with the other guests staying at the guesthouse. This way, you experience Japanese culture in a unique way. This place will always stay in my heart, and I hope to return soon. I highly & totally recommend it!

Positive: I’m only now writing a review for Shiori place, however this was my first introduction to Japan, and one of our favourite experiences of our whole 2 month trip throughout the country. Not only is she the perfect host, super attentive, open, friendly unbelievably giving , but she went above and beyond what one could ask for from a stranger. After one night we extended our stay and she took us on a tour around the town, to museums, shrines, the beach and we shared several meals together, all of which only made us sadder to leave her. The house is beautiful, has everything you could want from a guesthouse and the traditional interior decoration of Japanese homes. We hope we have formed a friendship for a long time to come and we will never forgot our wonderful stay with her. Please do not hesitate to book, even if it is for a short stay, you won’t regret it. A slice of real japan in our eyes. See you on the island one day Shiori :) Katy and Cam

Shiori-san isn’t just running a business; she’s a storyteller, a community activist, and a gentle guide to local life. From the moment I arrived she welcomed me with a hand-written note (in delightful calligraphy!) and a quick chat about the hidden corners of the town. • Secret Fukutsu. Thanks to her tips I discovered quiet beaches, pine-lined cycling paths, and a tiny hilltop shrine with a panoramic view of the Genkai Sea—spots you’ll never find in a guidebook. • Rooms that feel like home. My tatami room was clean, softly lit, and carried a faint aroma of fresh straw mats. If you’re looking for a glossy, generic hotel, keep scrolling. But if you want warm hospitality, quiet beaches, and a host who truly cares about her town and guests, book a few nights here. You’ll leave with sand between your toes, a calmer heart, and a notebook full of hidden Fukutsu gems. Thank you, Shiori-san. I’ll be back.
