Summary: Our stay at Guesthouse Koundo was excellent. It’s a beautiful home located, in our opinion, in the best spot in Nikko as it is easy to walk to the popular areas as well as catch the bus to go up to the mountain. There are also wonderful neighborhood restaurants to try within walking distance. It’s in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by beautiful nature. We were kindly allowed to leave our bags early, which was a great help because we had a lot of luggage. The home is kept in pristine condition, and the bathroom setup is very convenient for multiple travelers as the toilet, shower/tub, and sink are all separate. There’s a lovely room lined with tatami mats that’s great for sitting, and the bedroom is separate with 2 beds. The shower/tub room is stocked with plenty of towels which are regularly refreshed. We had a great time and would love to come back.

Summary: This is one of the best stays we had. The house was magical. Comfortable beds, spotless clean, quiet. Host was really nice. We slept very well. We loved the Japanese family table.
