Positive: The bed was very comfortable, and I loved the view of the trees outside my window. The decor was beautiful, and once I figured out the coffee machine, the coffee was great. It was also really convenient to have a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and fridge. Plus, the hosts were very kind and welcoming.”

Negative: I had trouble arriving because of the carnival. The streets closed earlier than expected, so I couldn’t drive to the hotel and drove an extra hour trying to get there but still had to park far away—which was tough with an injured foot. Clearer advance notice would have helped. The atmosphere wasn’t as peaceful as expected—loud carnival music carried even into the nature reserve. On the second night, people parked under my window and made loud noise until after 1 AM, making it hard to sleep. The coffee machine and heater needed better instructions; another guest kept asking me how to use them while I was trying to leave, which was inconvenient. Lastly, some of the plants needed more care.

Positive: Our stay at Guesthouse De Wissen was amazing! We had a very peaceful time there. Self check-in, super comfortable bed, the room had nice light during the day and was very dark to sleep. The kitchen had everything we needed, including condiments and oil to cook. We loved having a dishwasher so we didn’t have to worry about anything. Also the decoration was really pretty. Outside we had a nice view of the lake and we could reach easily Hoge Kempen with our car, just in 10 minutes. Since it is a rather small place, you could hear noise coming from the kitchen which can be annoying at sleeping hours. But the owners are super friendly, responsive and helpful in case other guests are making a lot of noise outside.
