Positive: I live in Loja, a 50 minute taxi drive from the Catemayo (Loja) airport ... unless there are mud slides or other 'acts of nature'. So I decided to leave Loja on the day before an early morning flight to Quito on the regional airline. I stayed overnight at Gran Hotel Marcjohns, in downtown Catemayo, very close to the airport. The hotel staff were very welcoming. They arranged for a taxi pickup at 5:30 a.m. I slept well the night before, confident that I would arrive at the airport on time. I had a 4th floor room with a view of downtown Catemayo. The room was spacious, well appointed with dark wood furniture. The bed was comfortable, with crisp sheets and fluffy pillows. Windows offered a 180 degree view of downtown. I would choose this hotel again.

Negative: Because the hotel is conveniently located downtown, there was some noise from traffic - but it did not prevent a good night's sleep.

Positive: The bed is comfortable and the elevator works well.

Negative: The price too high for the quality of the hotel. There is no longer the free breakfast like before. The shower was warm but not hot. The coffee/tea water in the lobby was still cold in the morning so no coffee before going to the airport.
