Positive: Goldsberghof is a simple, family-run hotel (Gasthof, really) that offers clean, comfortable and spacious rooms at a reasonable price. The hotel is in an off-the-beaten-path location in the hills (about a 10-minute drive) above Pöllau. The couple that run it are friendly and welcoming. They serve an excellent breakfast. I had a stunning view across the Pöllau valley from my balcony.

Negative: The hotel has little in the way of public rooms and no bar or restaurant when I visited in early June (although I'm sure Herr Scherf would provide you a beer or a glass of wine if you asked him). There are no restaurants or bars in the immediate vicinity so dinner means a trip into Pöllau or up to. Pöllauberg on windy mountain roads.

Positive: Very nice hosts in this family owned hotel. The rooms are very specious. The dinner was great, and the included breakfast is very generous. Location is a gem, for nice hiking around the area.

Summary: Great Austrian hosts, in an amazing scenery.
