Positive: Perfect place for one-week stay as a solo traveler in October / autumn in a only-women dormitory ! The dormitories are tiny, but the livingroom-kitchen is huge, cosy and fully equiped (and they have like 4 restrooms / 6 individual showers? I didn't count, but it was plenty enough for this time of the year). It's definitely made for backpackers and people who want to spend all day out (fishing, hicking, exploring the islands...) and come back at the hostel late evening to have a nice talk & dinner with everyone else. The highlights of the place are 100% the people, as well as the travelers than the staffs and the cat (Felix? Garfield? Everyone one had a new name for him every day haha), you will never feel alone, people will ask if you wanna join them for the day or what's your seesight plan, which for me as a solo traveler was the best way to bound and find people to go hiking with... and the sunrise & sunset views are just breathtaking! Thank you so much for everything Giljanes, and see you again in a few years!

Negative: Can feel easily crowded upper season (summer); if you are a light sleeper / don't like to wear ear plug, might not be the best place for you... Though, it's the only hostel on Faroe as far as I'm aware, so during summer, you're only other option would be a hotel and I truly think missing the chance to experience hostel on Faroe is a real miss of a lifetime. If you're still unsure if it's the right place for you, I recommand you to book for 2 nights, just to experience it at least once, and ask to extend your stay if you like it. And for the rest of the year, particularly mid-October, it is just the perfect place to stay! Be aware the hostel is in Vagar island (south west, close to the airport), so depending on which islands you want to visit (far north east for exemple), sometimes buses are hard to get by, even if you take the first one in the morning - last one in the evening, it can be long and troublesome for people who don't like to sit for hours a day in a public transport, so better hitchhiking (like I did) or rent a car if you can, or go for an one-way helicopter ride (the price easily justify the experience!), or stay overnight at a hotel in the main city (Torshavn). For me, that wasn't a problem at all to go back and forth to the hostel every day (sometimes by cheer luck of hitchhiking), I don't mind being on the road, but keep it in consideration if you dislike uncertainty or having to plan each day depending on buses/ferries hours. I heard in the near future (a few years), some islands will be much easier to get by too, they are in the talking stage of making new tunnels and such, so people can go back and forth without depending on ferries hours, so happy news!

Summary: Wish I could've stay twice as long... so I'll have to come back!

Positive: The owner is incredibly kind and accommodating, the facilities are clean and well kept, and Felix the cat will cuddle with you if you let him! In addition, the location of the hostel is very conveniently placed, and the other people staying there were delightful. All in all, my stay was 10/10! If I come back to the Faroe Islands this place will be my first choice!

Positive: The hostel is close to a bus stop, so it's convenient to get to the airport if you don't have a car. The nearby attractions on Vàgar island are easy to reach from the hostel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The view was beautiful. I enjoyed the stay especially because of the resident cat, Felix. He is a cuddly, patient little kitty.
