Positive: This cottage is lovely. They have a skylight in the main room with an electronic operating switch to put the blind down. The attic where the double bed is has a velux window with a manual blind. There are 2 comfortable single beds downstairs. If you are sleeping upstairs, you have a windy little staircase to navigate should you need to use the facilities in the night. The kitchen only has 2 electric plates and a microwave for cooking but has very good kitchenware available. The hosts also supplied oil, salt and pepper, real ground coffee and pods, and cleaning supplies. The bathroom is petite with a very small shower which provides 18 minutes of hot water before needing a break. It was fine for the two of us.

Negative: Unfortunately, we arrived to find that the upstairs double bed and floor were saturated by a passing storm as someone had left the upstairs window open. Our hostess offered to refund some of the money we'd paid for our stay but as there were sufficient beds downstairs we didn't ask for the refund.

Summary: This is a lovely open plan cottage with good facilities and really nice hosts.

Negative: Spiral stairs! Too narrow and hard to use as we are over 6ft tall. Small shower.

Positive: Charming studio apartment. Very clean comfortable and peaceful. Ideal retreat after a busy day sightseeing or in our case a day at a festival. Lovely garden.

Positive: Very peaceful location, in beautiful surroundings. It is set in a lovely garden, and I saw deer and sheep in the woods beyond as well. There were clear and helpful instructions to get there, though like all country locations it was still a bit tricky in the dark - arrive in the light if you can. This is a charming, well-kept cottage and very cosy, even in sub-zero temperatures. The bed was comfortable and it was nice to relax on the sofa while watching tv. There were plenty of clean towels and blankets too. I had everything I needed, and enjoyed my stay.

Negative: Very little - I liked it all very much, so I'm scraping the barrel here! Some instructions for how to use the shower would have been appreciated, especially as the water got to very high temperatures. It's hard to think rationally and avoid getting scalded at the same time! There's a two-ring plug-in hob and a microwave which were more than ample for me, but if you wanted to cook anything more complex it might be an issue.

Summary: Relaxing, quiet, refreshing - a haven from the busy world.

Positive: well-maintained, cute property, with plenty of charm and character! comfortable, clean and cosy with pretty much everything you would need, including books and games. Also very dog friendly. Tucked away in a pretty garden on the grounds of a beautiful period property in a small quiet village.

Negative: nothing to dislike! It might have been handy to have an oven - but here are table top hobs and a microwave there.
