Gallanach Cottage is a great venue for get togethers as it sleeps 10 in comfortable surroundings.
The comfortable property comprises of five bedrooms, , a very large kitch/diner with 2 picture windows that overlook the loch, large lounge, 3 shower rooms, and a utility room. There is a large garden with parking spaces for up to 4 cars.
The cottage has been extensively modernised over the last 12 months. This involved stripping back to bare walls and the roof. The internal design has been modified slightly to make better use of the space, add extra bathrooms and maximum views of the Loch.
Comprehensive insulation along with a new heating system and heat recovery means the cottage is warm and condensation free.
All rooms are new, finished to a high standard, the cootage has been decorated with Craig & Rose chalky emulsion in keeping with properties age.
The new luxury kitchen features oak worktops, a large induction hob, double oven along with built in fridge and dishwasher.
The utility houses a washing machine along with a fridge/freezer. The iron/ironing board, clothes horse and hoover are located here.
The large kitchen diner features a farmhouse table with seating for 10. Next to 2 huge picture which look on to the lock. At one end a small TV area with Garlando Football table provides an area for kids to chill.
The shower rooms feature extensive tiling, with large shower cubicles, under floor heating and heated towel rail.
Wifi throughout the property is free.

Summary: Really lovely house with lots of space and all the facilities we could ask for. We boated from the Loch shore and enjoyed the surrounding area very much.

Summary: We had a great experience from beginning to end with a fantastic cottage. The quality of the accomodation was great and what a fantastic location right next to the loch. We used it as a base to travel around the Highlands and it worked really well. The owners were very communicative and ensured we were welcomed with essentials when we arrived. Would highly recommend.

Summary: The cottage far exceeded our expectations. We absolutely loved it. The setting is magical. Lochgair is a charming, quiet and very pretty village with some great walking and a lovely isolated beach just a few minutes from the cottage. Within a short drive there are interesting things to do on both good weather and wetter days. We thought Inverary Castle was lovely, for example. The cottage has a stunning view over the loch and we loved the fact our kids could potter on the beach in front of the cottage within sight of the kitchen window. The cottage itself has been finished to the highest standard. It feels like a home with everything you could want. Clearly lots of thought has gone into it and everything is done to a very high standard. It was immaculate when we arrived (and hopefully when we left too!) The kitchen is very well equipped - it felt like being at home. It doesn't feel like many rental cottages where often you get the bare minimum of utensils / crockery etc. Everything was high quality with lots of crockery / equipment etc. We love cooking so this was a real plus. Throughout the cottage was great. Clean. Spacious. Stylish. Lots of hot water. Fabulous linen. A generous amount of towels. The layout worked very well for us when family joined us. A lovely big kitchen and dining table for people to comfortably eat together and enough space for people to separate out and relax. Great layout. When we arrived we found Steve, the owner, had left some welcome goodies (some food essentials and a few local craft beers) so if we had arrived without these after the nearest shops had shut we would be OK. Very thoughtful and generous and this lovely touch meant we immediately settled in and felt welcome and at home. We managed to befriend the local fisherman who comes ashore in front of the cottage and sold us 2kg of langoustines. These, cooked and eaten immediately, with a nice glass of wine looking across a stunning Scottish loch is pretty much my definition of heaven. In short, this is a fantastic cottage in a gem of a village with everything we could want (and more) and a very thoughtful and welcoming owner.

Summary: We were 2 families (4+4) holidaying together with teenage kids . The location is spectacular right on the loch (just across a wee road). Very easy access in and out of the water and we were happy to leave our kayaks at the front of the house. The kids were able to come and go as they pleased and great vantage points either sitting out the front of the house and also inside at the lovely big picture windows to watch the fun. The house has been beautifully renovated to a high standard and is very well equipped with everything you will need for your stay. There was plenty space throughout the house and the lounge and dining areas easily accommodated us all. Good Wi-Fi, which helped for those that didn't get great mobile reception. (I am on EE and my mobile reception was ok) Access to the property was easy and the hosts left us a lovely welcome pack of basics (bread, butter milk) and some local produce, including delicious beer, cakes and biscuits. There was also some basic store cupboard essentials, sauces, coffee, tea etc. The locals and neighbours were all very friendly and made us feel most welcome. Lochgair Hotel is a few minutes walk from the house and wasn't open to non residents while we were there (however I don't think that was any loss to us). We knew that we would need to drive out for groceries and Lochgilphead is a 10-15 min drive away with a decent sized Co-op supermarket, there is also a couple of other smaller supermarkets, butcher, fishmonger, Indian restaurant, Chinese take away, chip shop and other gift shops etc. There is also other options in the area such as Inverary with shops, bars restaurants etc. Communications with the host were good with helpful information provided, sent by messager, email and also contained within a folder at the property.

Summary: Spent 2 weeks in August in a group of 8 - 2 families of 4 - and loved the space available with 2 lounges, 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Jigsaw Puzzles, DVDs and books help keeping everybody busy when the weather is a bit too Scottish. The loch is visible from most windows in the house and provides an ever-changing background. Lots of shops and supermarkets are available in the towns nearby along with great places to visit: castles, beaches, seafood restaurants, local festivals, etc. The cottage was thoroughly cleaned before and during our stay and you can tell the owners make every effort to ensure their hosts enjoy their stay. Are seriously considering coming back to this part of Scotland in a few years' time.

Summary: Gallanach cottage is situated just meters from the sea, and is great for anyone planning to bring a kayak or boat. The area around the house gives plenty of opportunities for outdoor life. Other than the outdoors, there is not a lot of attractions nearby, which our teenagers found a little boring. For younger kids just being outside playing was great. Some outdoor toys in the house would have been great. The house itself is a good size and decent standard, although the kitchen utensils could do with renewal (or an available knife sharpener). The next door neighbour is very friendly, and helped us find excellent local mussels which we made a delicious supper out of.

Summary: It's a lovely, quirky house that has the most fantastic view of the loch. It's I a quiet unspoilt village that still has access to many local shop, including a medium sized supermarket. We loved using the open fire (logs from a local garage). We were a party of 3 adults and 6 children adults nd fitted comfortably into the house. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and I k ow from visiting the area many times that this can't be counted on but we you have the views are spectacular. The owners upgraded the wifi for our visit and we were surprised (the kids were relieved ) as to how good the broadband was in the area. We met the owners on the last day adults Dr nd they told us they had plans for massive changes, hopefully theses won't spoil the slightly quirky character of this place as one day we would like to return. Highly recommended!
