Positive: This is a rare chance to stay with local Japanese people. Komay and Yuki are Japanese hosts who welcome visitors with hospitality and kindness and try their best to make you comfortable and if you have an opportunity to get to know them, it will be very meaningful. It may be better to plan what you want to experience and do when in the yoshinoyama and area and check if they are free to drive you or pick you up, as the guesthouse is 20 mins by car from yoshino station and it may be difficult to get local taxis and there are no local buses to get around. I was able to hike mt yoshino over 3 days as a solo traveller thanks to Komay & Yuki who made time to drive me to and from yoshino station and on one night, to a local onsen.

Negative: For free & easy solo travellers like me who value independence and some level of comfort, it did take a bit of getting used to as I had to rely on my kind hosts to get around and help make my stay comfortable. But it is part of the experience so open-mindedness is part of the experience of solo travelling.

Summary: Local experience, something different and definitely memorable!

Positive: I really enjoyed the owner couple. They are very friendly, kind, helpful to take us to a restaurant and back and so on. Way nicer thay we expected. Also we enjoyed cooking class and music lessons! They are so talented and easygoing.

Positive: I really enjoyed the convenience of the location and excellent hospitality of my hosts. They were very attentive to accommodating my needs. If you're looking for a flat screen television in a conventional hotel setting. Then this is not the place for you. You will wake up to an amazing breakfast! If you're lucky, you will be serenaded to some beautiful jazz piano!

Negative: The separation of shower and toilet. Was a little inconvenient. The mattresses could have been a little more firm.

Negative: It’s kinda tough to get to the BnB. However, the hosts were incredibly helpful and I couldn’t have asked for better.

We felt extremely comfortable and truly enjoyed our stay. Their dog was absolutely adorable and added to the charm of our visit. We are sincerely grateful for such a thoughtful and heartwarming experience.

Positive: The hosts are an extremely kind and helpful couple who will make sure that you feel very welcome and that your stay is comfortable. Breakfast was delicious, and I was very grateful for them picking me up from a local train station in the late evening. The room and house was a traditional-style Japanese home with beautiful decor, yet plenty of modern amenities. Bonus was the cute shiba dog and jazz piano :) Thanks for the stay.

Positive: Komay-san, an accomplished jazz musician, the host was incredibly hospitable and friendly and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. His wife Yuki was only too happy to take us sightseeing and to fetch us back from where we were having lunch. Yuki made us delicious breakfast on the 2 days we stayed at their B&B whilst Komay-san served the food. Their unassuming and friendly demeanor made our stay that much better.

Negative: The weather there was a bit too cold for our liking and if not for the very warm pyjamas the hosts provided us on our request we would have suffered from hyperthermia!! The oil heater wasn't something we liked not least because it gave off an awful smell but the aircon heater was good and made it possible for us to cope with the cold.

Positive: It’s an old fashion style Japanese house very warm and lots of facilities. The beds were especially comfy. The host is very nice. He did breakfast for us too and was delicious. Overall was a very enjoyable
