Summary: Absolutely enjoyed 10 days on this historic property! The property is adjacent to the fortress and the hotel is a converted Soldiers barracks. A sense of tranquility and peacefulness surrounds you when you walk around the property. The property is well maintained and oversees the city of Halden. The staff made my family feel like home. The staff were professional and kind; they made us feel welcomed. The staff checked on our family when we were off the property for over 24 hours to ensure we were ok and safe. The daily breakfast buffet was delicious with an array of local, organic, cold and hot items. The dining area is clean and have the best lasagna on their dinner menu. We plan to return to Norway and plan to return to the Fredriksten!

Summary: Very friendly staff, fascinating history, comfortable facility. The only change I would suggest is that the electric vehicle charging stations should include a type 3 charging cord which would allow rental cars to use them. (Rentals do not come with anything other than the most basic cord for home use - type 2.)

Summary: Great hotel near the Fredriksten festning. Breakfast was very good and the room had plenty of space. Free wifi is included. Parking was a little crowded, but nice that they provide a parking lot for guests.
